According to Bill Putman: William Putman m. Elizabeth Myers. Here is his info on the Jackson County bunch.
Hope this helps. Mary B.
This is from 1870 Alabama.
NANCY PUTMAN Jackson County
Nancy, still a widow, is now 70. We get a dual listing here. One family is
headed by her and another by her son Morris, but they basically contain
the same names although there is an occasional difference in ages by a
year or two. I'll list everyone here, roughly by family grouping:

MORRIS PUTMAN Jackson County
This is Morris Junior. He is 26 TN and living with his mom Nancy and everyone.

WILSON PUTMAN Jackson County
He is also a son of Morris Senior and living here. He is 38 and probably a widow.
With him are John M. 10 and David Judson 3 all born in TN. He married Mary Ann
Keele in Coffee County, Tennessee on December 22, 1859 and later he married
her sister Sarah Ann Keele on January 10, 1861 also in Coffee County.

Morris's son is 44 TN, Elizabeth Myers 33 AL, Mary 11 TN, Frances 9 TN,
William R. 7 AL, Henry Edward 4 AL and Robert Lee 1 AL.

WILLIAM F. PUTMAN Jackson County
He is 18 AL and Nancy J. is 24 AL. He lives next door to the above William
and Elizabeth, but is not theirs. He is a son of the below Abraham Pinkney
Putman, and will be in Young County, Texas in 1880.

Ezekiel's son is making a short stop over on the way to Texas. He is 43,
Mary Ann Brooks 43, George Lee 18, Jane 16, Lydia 15, Elias 13, Mary 12,
Thomas 10, Sarah 8, Joseph 6, Julia 6, Elijah 4 and Charles 1. Everyone
was born in Georgia.

JOHN J. PUTMAN Jackson County
He is Abraham's eldest son age 21 GA and working nearby as a field hand
with the Allen family.

JAMES PUTMAN Jackson County
Another of Morris' sons. He is 34-35 AL, Mailinda his second wife is 23 AL
and what seem to be his kids are Dovey E. (Elizabeth in 1860) 12 TN and
John T. 10 TN. Malinda is his second wife.
He was married to Rachel Susan Brown in the 1860 census of Bedford County,

RICHARD W. PUTMAN Jackson County
He is Morris son age 28-30 depending on which listing you look at. Now, out
of all the hodge podge in this huge list, we also get Martha Putman. If this is
the daughter of Morris who was 20 in the 1850 census, she should be 40 now.
She is shown as 38 in one list and 40 in the other. I vote for her being a single
daughter of Morris and not a wife of Richard. This wraps up the family. Whew!

JOHN B. PUTMAN Jackson County
He is Wilson's son listed as 43 but should be 41. Rosanna Thompson is 38,
Joseph B.16, James W. 9, William W. 6 and Sarah C. 5. They have been in
this location for a while now.

Hi, those census entries are off ny website. You can go there and see the rest for any years.

But for your line go to the Genealogy part of the site > Putnam/Putman > Southern Putmans > Alabama > Wilson Here is your part and you see I have nothing about Dovey and who she married etc.

If you can add that info and another generation send it to me and i'll update.

James L. Putman

James was born about 1836. He married Rachel Susan Brown in Coffee County, Tennessee on October 1, 1856. They are in the 1860 census of Bedford County, Tennessee with two young children. He is also with mom's gang in 1870 with the same two children and what appears to be a new wife named Malinda or Mary Ann.

I next find them in Grayson County, Texas in 1880. The two children as of 1870 and 1880 were:

DOVEY ELIZABETH PUTMAN born in Tennessee in 1857. Not at home in 1880.

Great I would love info on her and their kids. She was a daughter of James L. Putman and Rachel Susan Brown from Bedford Co. Tennessee and then Grayson County Texas. All I have is she was born in 1857 and off or married by 1880. You can find this line on my website at then go to Genealogy > Putnam/Putman > Southern Putmans > Alabama > Wilson Putman of Jackson County. James L. was one of Wilson's sons. You'll see what I have on the other kids, and will take similar info and post. So, Thanks! If you have a bunch you can send directly to my e-mail address.
