Walter W. HEANEY, of 316 S. 22nd Street, distribution Foreman for the Illinois Cities Water Company, died at 2:55 p.m. yesterday at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was 71y5m3d of age. Mr. HEANEY had been an employee of the local water company for the past 31 years. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m., at the Wesley Methodist Church, of which he was a member. The Rev. Gerald GULLEY will officiate and burial will be in Old Shiloh Cemetery. The body will be removed from the Osborn Funeral Home at Dix to the family home, where friends may call after 2:00 p.m. Friday.

Mr. HEANEY was born April 15, 1886 in Mendon, IL, the son of Edward and Eliza Ann (DEAVOR) HEANEY. On September 9, 1904, he was married to Gertrude WOOD, who survives. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Glenn of East Peoria and Howard of Mt. Vernon; three grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Bertha SHEHORN of Bunker Hill, IL.

Mt. Vernon, IL Daily Register - Monday, March 1, 1920

Pierce WOOD, of Shiloh Township, died Sunday at 2:00 p.m. o'clock p.m. at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Louis McMEEN, on Conger Avenue, this city. Funeral services will be held at the McMEEN home tomorrow at 12 o'clcock, conducted by the Rev. W. H. BLAKE, and burial will follow at Old Shiloh Cemetery. Death was caused by Bright's disease, with which Mr. WOOD suffered some years. He had been in very poor health for months and his death was not a surprise.

He is survived by his wife, and the collowing named children: Mrs. Gertie HANEY of Rome Township; Mrs. Joseph SMITH of Ipava, IL; and John WOOD of Shiloh Township; and Jesse WOOD at home. Two brothers, John and Wink WOOD; and one sister, Mrs. MADDOX, reside at Woodlawn.

Mr. WOOD was well known in Shiloh Township and the west part of Jefferson County, and was held in high esteem by everyone. About a week ago, Mr. WOOD was brought to Mt. Vernon to the home of his daughter, Mrs. McMEEN, where he died.

Mrs. Ida WOOD, widow of Pierce WOOD died at 9:30 last night at her home in Dix. Death was due to paralysis, with which she was severely stricken Sunday morning. Mrs. WOOD, had she lived until next March, would have been 62 years old.

Before her marriage her name was MAYFIELD and she was born in Jefferson County. Mrs. WOOD was a faithful Christian woman and had a large nuber of friends, by which she was held in the highest respect. She had for many years been a member of the Methodist Church.

Burial will be had at Old Shiloh tomorrow at 2:30 o'clock p.m. The services will be conducted by the Rev. Monroe SMITH of Patoka and the Rev. Robert PHILLIPS.

Mrs. Wood's husband died a little more than eight months ago. She is survived by the following named children: John & Jesse M. WOOD, Mrs. Louis McMEEN and Mrs. Walter HEANEY of Mt. Vernon, and Mrs. Lydia SMITH of Ipava, IL. All of the children were by the bedside of their mother when she died.
