Hello,

Recently, I have come across a death certificate for a man named Loyd Johnson. The certificate states that he was about 43 years of age, and died March 2nd, 1947. He was buried on March 4th, 1947. However, the certificate only has his burial listed in "Galveston".
I would like to know where he was buried in Galveston. If anyone has the records for the Cortez Funeral Home and could share this location, I would be extremely grateful.

In addition, if anyone has information on this man, such as a date of birth or parent names, that information would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

Hi,

I didn't find anything for him in Bexar County but I'm not surprized if he traveled around with the carnival.

Do you have his obituary? If not, I'd contact the following:

San Antonio Genealogical and Historical Society, http://txsaghs.org/cpage.php?pt=14

San Antonio Public Library, http://mysapl.org/Services/Collections/Texana#189122055-coll...

Where he was buried in Galveston might be in his obit.

Did you look for him in www.findagrave.com/?

I did a Google search for the Cortez Funeral Home records but didn't find anything. You'd have to contact all of the local genealogical and historical Bexar County societies and ask each one.

Then you'd have to contact the state organizations too. They could have been given to anyone or thrown away. They are considered business records and most states don't have laws requiring their retention. Successful Searching!
