Looking for information on a Sarah Crawley
born about 1839. I found her in the 1910
Warren Co. TN census. She is listed as
having 2 sons Thomas and Robert.
Also, listed with her is Amanda Meadows
(my gggrandmother.) I am trying to find
what connection my gggrandmother has to
her.
Thanks,
Regina

My memory recalls the memtion of a Polly Crawley in the Rev War grant I sent to Jerry McClure.I do not recall seeing reference to the other names. The land Grant Apps of Samuel and Charles Crawley have been mailed.I will email Jerry mac myself and ask him to to send you copies of whatever he has.Second,I purchased several books at the NEGHS book store while attending an intoducyory course on Genealogy.I'm sure that you would like to see the format of these books for yourself.
I belong to the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War.Currently,I serve as Chiefof Staff to the State Commander,Fred Caulwell gx2grandson of William T.Sherman.While attending the Nat'l Encampment this past summer in Indianapolis,I had the privelege and good fortune to meet and become friendly with Patrick J. Griffin,Commander in Chief of the Sons of Confederate Veterans.I told him of the Crawley family and how 90% of all Crawleys served in the Confederate Army."Rick"as he likes to be called lives in Darnestown,Md.If you are nt a member or not interested in joining I would still recommend that you contact him.Rick's e mail address is :rebelecho@aol.com.If you speak to him tell him that I referred you to him.

You are correct Polly Crawley applied for a land grant and awarded a warrant for 160 acres of buonty land . I believe this land to be locaated in Sevier Co. Tenn.
I am a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, the Robert E. Lee chapter Alexandria Virginia. I am also a member of the sons of the American Revolution, George Washington Chaptaer, Alexandria Virginia. I may be eligable for the Sons of Union Veterans on my mothers side but I have never been abale to nail down the right Francis Wilson who may have served in the Washington DC home guard. I have met Paatrick J. Griffin at our annual Robert E. Lee birtday banquet. Every year at the George Washington Birthday parade in Alexandria, Virginia the sons of the American Revolutin march with reinactment groups. The sons of the Confederate Veterans also march along with sevferal Union and Confederate units. Come on down in Feb and you can march with us.

Glad to hear that you are of the same spirit!I just might take you up on the offer to march. The Polly Crawley I know came to reside in White County,Tenn. She is mentioned in the land grant application by Jarad(?) Crawley who shows military service from Va.,N.C.,S.C. and Ga. regiments during the Rev.War.His application would be great for you to read because it contains a translation of the file by an archivist sometime during the early 1930's to a Crawley relative living in Kosiusko,Mississippi.
My SAR links are to Nathaniel Freeman,Nathaniel Freeman Jr.,and James Crawley-2nd Mass Inf. 1778-1783.Flourence Crowley(Crawley) Mass Artillery I am still working on-am very close to tying that link up.My Civil War ancestor was Andrew Thomas Crawley-Co."D" 13th Mass. Inf-Ist Corps-WIA "the Cornfield" Antietem leg amputated in Sharpsburg.Brothers William H.Crawley-Co."D" 13th Mass Inf.,Co."G" 61st Mass Inf.-V Corps,Hancock Veteran Volunteers(only 4300 volunteers out of 700,000 eligible veterans-not many eager to re-up in 1864),Cornelius Crawley-Co.A-1st Mass Inf.WIA-Blackburn's Ford In World War II my uncle,James Crawley-Co."B" 1st Bn 506th Airborne Inf.,101st Airborne Div. from Normandy to Bertesgarten.
Myself-Co."C" 1st Bn 325 Airborne Inf-82nd Airborne Div. 1970-1972.
Please let me know if you find those two Land Grant Applications for Samuel and Charles Crawley of any interest.I have e mailed Jerry McClure asking him to send you copies of the one I sent him last summer.Say hello to Rick Griffin when you see him.
Tommorrow I will have an interesting story to tell you about concerning my SUVCW Camp.Because two stories of interest that are developing right now.
Before I go-on of the last things I said to Rick Griffin was that I hoped someday to sign up a fellow Crawley cousin for Confederate Sons-you really made my night!
