I am looking for information on Charles Busse and his wife Mary. Here is what I think I know:

Charles was born in 1839 and died sometime after 1890. Mary was born in 1848 and died in 1898. She is buried in the Hope Cemetery in Dane County. Their children were all born in Dane County from 1865 - 1890: Mary, Henry, Anne, Cecilia, Alice, Walter, Emil, Esther.

I am looking for any & all information, specifically - her maiden name, both their parents names, and when and whether they came from Germany, when and where they were married.

Thank you!

According to the birth certificate for Alice Sarah Busse (Dane County Records, Volume 7; Page 345) The father was Charles Busse born in Germany and the mother was Mary Luchensmeyer born in Germany. I have other info on this family as well. My great-grandparents are also buried in the Hope Evangelical Cemetery, which has led me to do research on other families buried there as well. E-mail me and I will send you what I have.

I am a part of the family of Busse that you mention. I have a picture of that whole family taken just before the death of the mother, Mary. There were 11 children - 4 boys, 5 girls. Henry, Charles, Emil, Walter, Mary, Elizabeth, Anna, Esther, Addie, Celia, Anna. I am willing to send you a copy of that picture if you wish. The only other person I know who could help you would be my cousin's daughter. Her name is Eileen Haas, 120 Stares Lane, Sequim, WA. 98382-8599. She has always had an interest in the fmily tree and has gathered misael5@ore information than I have. (My cousin is Howard - his father was Henry - my father was Walter)

I am making a book on the families of the persons buried in the Hope Evangelical Cemetery. It would be wonderful to include the family picture in this book. Would it be possible to get a copy of the picture?

The records for the Hope Church are located at Trinity United Methodist Church in Madison, WI. . The Hope Evangelical church was never larg enough to support its own preacher and was served by the Evangelical preacher stationed in Madison. The German were usually very good about giving the birthplaces of the Father and Mother in their baptismal records. My memory is that the Busse name is included in the "founders" of that congregation, somewhere in the 1850's

Thank you for your reply. I have since found lots of information as follows:

Carl (Charles) Diedrich Wilhelm Busse was born 8/24/1835 in Prussia and died 12/22/1918 in Burke Twnship, Dane County, WI. He married Marie Louisa Johanna Luckensmeier 11/13/1963. I was able to find their marriage certificate and his parents were Christian and Elizabeth Busse. I am now trying to find information on them (birthdates, maiden name, immigration(?) and death dates/places). I haven't had much success with that and am guessing they didn't come to the U.S. I was able to trace the Luckensmeier family back quite far though. Thanks to all of you for your help! If these Busse's are in the church records, I'd love to know. Thanks again.
