Nanninga family of Illinois

My Grandfather was Nicholas H. Nanninga born in Illinois in 1903, his wife was Mabel born in 1901 in Illinois, I don't know her maiden name. His father was Henry Nanninga who was born in Holland in 1874 and married to Dora Haack also born in Holland around 1879. Their children were: Susan, Gertrude, Nicholas, Mary, Helen born 1899-1911. The family settled in Chicago where my Mother Mary Alice Nanninga was born in 1925. I am hoping to find anyone related to the Illinois Nanninga family which came through Ellis Island in 1900. If anyone has a connection please contact me.

Thanks, Ronald Bolin

Hey Ronnie,
I was looking up some family research myself, and came across your message but I didn't realize it was you at first, not being familar with Susan's last name in the ID box. Imagine my surprise when I thought a perfect stranger's mother turned out is my grandmother. Heh. Felt kinda dumb when I saw it was you.

Anyway, how much info do you have on the family line? Do you know any more than you mention here? If so, could you email me it to me at

Your neice, Jennifer

Do you know the date of Henry and Dora's marriage? I'm wondering if this could be it--

Thanks for the info. Yes, it does seem to make sense but I do not know if this info is correct or not, I have not been able to find any of this before. It does make sense that first names may have been "Americanized" becomming Henry and Dora. All I knew was they were both born in Holland. Please send any additional info you have on them, I think the info you sent is correct and is the right family.

Thanks, Ron
