I am looking for any information on relatives of Theodore FISCH and Eva MANDERS who were married in Houston County,
Crooked Creek Township in the mid 1800's. I have a great deal of information on them, but have not been able to verify Theodore's father and mother. There is a catholic cemetary in Freeburg, MN which there are a number of Luxembourg family names, but I have not been able to verify
Theodore's father. I have a great deal of infomation on the MANDERS surname going back to the 1600's. Anyone with any clues would be appreciated.

Michael,

Crooked Creek was originally a settlement of Luxembourgers. My ESCH family line originally settled there as well. There are still Fisch descendants from the early families in Houston County. Are you in contact with any of them?

Have you checked the death record for Theodore? Did he move from Houston County? The LDS library has a microfilm of Houston Co. death record information from 1870-1910? Very often this information contains the parents of the deceased. I was able to expand 3 lines this way - from Houston County records. If you don't have access to the LDS microfilms, let me know.

I have had luck finding information on my Esch family through the Gonner Index to the Luxembourg Gazette. Have you tried this option? I found 10 references to my Luxembourg families between 1870 and 1920. The Iowa Historical Society sent photocopies of these articles.

Laurie, thanks for your information on Mary Fisch. I do have thatinformation. My real search is information on Nicholas Fisch who I believe to be Theodore's father. I have been trying to track down his father for many years without any direct proof.

Thanks.

Have you made progress on locating Theodore Fisch's father? You believe his father's name was Nicholas. I haven't made the link between the Fisch's in Luxembourg and Houston County, but I do have several Nicholas Fisch's in my family tree. Anna Fisch married Peter Welscher in Feb 18, 1805 in Fuelen Luxembourg. Anna Fisch has two brothers named Nikolas Fisch. Brother 1 was born Sept 13, 1789 which I have no additional information. The second brother named Nikolas Fisch was born on July 4, 1804, which I have several generations of his family, and it does not appear to link. Anna Fisch's grandfather's name was Theodor Fisch.

The Luxembourg settlers in the Crooked Creek, Mayville township have similar names as to family names in my family tree from Luxembourg; thus, I believe they are probably linked but I have never investigated.

If you would like to dig deeper, I can forward you my information on the Fisch family in Luxembourg.
