You might want to check the Manitoba Mennonite Historical Society web page (www.mmhs.org). There are some files on the site that you will find useful.

Believe it or not, I recieved a book today on my family history that mentions a bit about the colony. Let me know what you would like to know and I'll see if I can help. (e-mail: hiebert.troff@sasktel.net)

Hi there!
My great-grandmother, Anna Derksen-Klassen, her two daughter Anne Klassen and Herta Klassen all lived in Chortitza Colony. Came over in 1947. Anne worked as a cook in the hospital there. I am searching for information and came across you, thought I would share :)

I'm interested in WALZ family.

Hello, my grandma- MAGDALENA WALZ (~1900-1974), Joseph's daughter also from Mennonites of Chortitza. As my mother told me in my young days- she and her parents lived in german named village about 40km from Yekaterinoslavl/Dnipro. Sorry, but I don't remmember village name, but it consists of two words.. e.g. Rosen-burg...
They lived there till 1941, then they were deported by germans to work in farms in Germany. After WWII they were "repatriated", separated and immediately sent to Siberia- my grandpa to Abez concentration camps (there died in 1952), my grandma with children (my mother and my uncle)- to Krasnoyarsk region labour camps.

Please help me find my maternal ancestors and relatives.
