My gr grandmother's maiden name was WNEK. She lived in Lipnica Gorna, Poland. During her lifetime this area of Poland was occupied by Austria and was known as Galicia. She married Kazimierz TWARDOSZ, and four of their five children came to America by 1906. Since the TWARDOSZ side of the family came to America, did the WNEK side come to America too?
Please contact me if any of this sounds familiar. Thank you.

My Grandmother was Malgorzata/Margaret/Maggie Wnek, born 1889, in Galicia. Emigrated in late 1890's or early 1900's to Sayreville, New Jersey. I'm not sure if she was already married to Tomasz/Thomas Plewa, born 1886, also in Galicia. I have little information about them right now -- still looking. I never knew them, but I'd like to give my Granddaughter some roots. Any connection?

Hi Jack,
I very possibly have some information for you. I've been researching in some church records for a town called Lipnica Murowana.
At the moment I'm swamped with too many things on my plate, but the first chance I get I'll see if I can find the names you mentioned and possibly a connection. There are many PLEWAs, WNEKs and TWARDOSZ in my tree all from the same town in Poland.

I'll be in touch soon.

Good Morning,

This is a little uncanny, my grandmother was Marya Wnek from Lipnica Gorna Poland ( austria) She too immigrated to Sayreville NJ in 1914 to a family by the name of Ciecko. She arrived thru ellis island, NY Her parents names were Szymon Wnek & Rozalia Wiezczek. Since I live in the next town over from Sayreville, NJ The surname of Plewa is one I am familiar with, I know it's been years since your original post, & I wonder how far you have gotten w/ your search?

I finally got back into my search after all these years and found your Post. I'm still searching for any information regarding Wnek and Plewa families in sayreville, and I've recently found a "corner" in my research. As far as I know, the people I'm researching arrived in America about 1906.
I'm living in Old Bridge and might have some information in which you might be interested. You can e-mail a reply here or use my personal e-mail account:
BTW, do you have any information regarding the church records from either Lipnica Gorna, Lipnica Murowana or Lipnica Dolna in Poland?

Yes, I do have many relatives from South River!
