I am looking for information regarding Conrad Sporleder who was born around 1811 in Prussia. He married Wilhelmina Amelia ("Meena") Miller/Muller and died in Giard, Clayton Co., Iowa in 1863. They had four children: Ludwig David, Friedrich Wilhelm, Conrad Edward, and Louisa.

To: Patricia Sporleder...My grandfather was Adam Sporleder who was born in Jennings County, Indiana in 1863. His father, Henry Sporleder, was born in Prussia in 1819. He came to American in 185? (I forgot the exact year, but we have found the ship passenger list.) A big mystery in our family is the fact that an "Amelia" or Amalia or Amala (the name is illegible) Sporleder is also listed on the ship's passenger list. We have never been able to figure out who she was.

Do you have any connection to the Sporleders of Schaumburg, IL?

I know of at least one Amalia Sporleder, my great aunt Molly. She is likely too late to be your Amalia, but maybe there are others.

Drop me a line.

Don, my apologies for not responding sooner.

I don't think our Amelia's are connected as Conrad's wife was much younger than Conrad, who I think was born around 1811.

I would be very interested in knowing more about Henry Sporleder and where he settled in the U.S. Also, the name of the ship and the year he arrived in the U.S. I do know that someone's branch of Sporleders disembarked in New Orleans.

I'm hoping to hear from you sooner than I answered your query!
