There was an Abraham Keiper b 3 Feb 1767 to Carl Ludwig Keiper and Catharine Ort. They lived in or around Hanover Twp in Lehigh County. Descended from Carl Ludwig Keiper Sr who came here from Lachen, Germany. I'm related to a daughter of Carl L. Sr. Could this be your Abraham? There was another Abraham who was a son of a John Keiper and Anna Elizabeth (MNU) ...... they were in Sugarloaf Twp, Luzerne Co. Abraham also had a son Abraham. Lots of Abrahams in that family.

Those people must not have kept track of each other. I am stumped, I know he was born in Northampton Co. PA 1822 and moved to Northumberland Co. PA. before 1850.Cannot find his birth or marriage date to #1 wife Christiana. He married again after 1880 census was taken, wife #2 was Mary A. Possibly a cousin of his first wife. Was in Civil war, have copies of pension application. Have picture of 4 Keiper brothers in Civil War Uniform, and picture of Abe, Hezekiah Floyd (son-in-law)and son George Keiper, no date. Have copy of deed to property purchased in Northumberland Co.1867 and they appear in 1850 census Northumberland Co.PA. Do you have any ideas, where to look? Let me know your names you are looking for, maybe sonewhere along we may be long lost cousins. My e-mail is Gramaduck@aol.com.

His mother was Maria Catherine (Ort) I've found all at Christ Union Church in Hanover Twp. I think Johns son, Daniel was my gggrandfather. Am having trouble because there seem to have been two Johns , also two Daniels. Can you help? Do you have more? Thanks for any help Sylvia

Abrahams in Hanover and Bethlehem

There were TWO Abraham Keipers in the Lehigh Valley, both born around the same time. The first was Abraham Keiper of Hanover Township, Lehigh County, born about 1797. The second was Abraham Keiper of Bethlehem, Northampton County, born about 1798. These are two different families as proven by the census data:

(Year: 1830; Census Place: Bethlehem, Northampton, Pennsylvania; Roll: 156; Page: 123.) versus (Year: 1830; Census Place: Hanover, Lehigh, Pennsylvania; Roll: 155; Page: 16.)

(Year: 1840; Census Place: , Northampton, Pennsylvania; Roll: 479; Page: 136.) versus (Year: 1840; Census Place: , Lehigh, Pennsylvania; Roll: 469; Page: 174.)

I am looking for information on the Abraham Keiper from Bethlehem, Northampton County. In particular, did he have a son named Daniel (1811-1881)? I hope this helps some.

I sure wish I could help you but the only Abraham Keiper I know of was born in Northampton Co. PA 1822 and moved to Northumberland Co. PA. before 1850. I have not yet been able to find him with his parents, but the papers from the funeral home lists his birth as Northampton, PA. Thru funeral, census & Civil War pension papers, I have his birth & death dates. I am positive I have been able to connect his first wife Christianna/Christine to the family of George Holshue of Coal Township in Northumberland, PA. From his children birth dates, they probably married between 1841 & 1845. It is possibe his second wife b. 1835 d. 1888 was a sister or a cousin of his first wife. He was in Civil war, have copies of pension application. Have picture of 4 Keiper brothers in Civil War Uniform, and picture of Abe, Hezekiah Floyd (son-in-law)and son George Keiper, no date. Have copy of deed to property purchased in Northumberland Co.1867.
Please keep posting, maybe someone has another clue and good luck.
