It says in the 1900 census for Madison, Dane Co., that he and Margaret both immigrated in 1856.
Says he was born Dec 1828, and she was born dec 1836.

There is a death record for Margaret.

You can get a copy from the wisconsin state historical society, or Dane county vital records. It may have her birth location.

You could also try to find there immigration records.
I do not have a subscription to ancestry's immigration records, so I do not know how complete they are, if you have access to a library, they may have a subscription to ancestry, that you could access those files.

Hope this helps.

There is a reference in the "History of Dane County, Wisconsin-1906" under a biographical sketch for John Reis. "About ten years ago (John Reis), he moved to the city of Madison (from the town of Westport), sold his farm and invested in city property. His widow owns, not only her residence at 30 N. Basser St., but six other houses in the city. She was Miss Margaretha Marx, daughter of John and Margaret (Endres) Marx, now residing at 324 Doty St. They were old settlers of the town of Berry, and the postoffice of Marxville, was named after him. He is somewhat of an exception to the usual type of home-keeping farmers, for he has crossed the ocean five times. About sixteen years ago he moved to Madison. His daugther, Mrs. Reis, was born in the town of Berry."

According to "The Place-Names of Dane County, Wisconsin", by Frederic G. Cassidy, here is the origin of the naming of Marxville. Marxville is noted as a village named "for Johannes Marx, owner of considerable land at and near the crossroads settlement at the junction of secs. 3, 4, 9, and 10, (Town of) BERRY, the site of the village. Marx, tho he came before 1860, was not one of the earliest settlers; so there was some resentment when the PO was established in his name. It was felt that it should have been 'Myer's Corner', and that Marx's friendship with the town chairman had unduly influenced the decision. Marx is said to have reconciled things by setting up a barrel of beer for the villagers' celebration (Walser)."
