Does anyone have any relatives related to Lucy C Aswine and Wilson H F Sims? I can not find out anything about her. The only documentation so far is a marriage certificate stating that they were married in Greene, Va on 12 Sep 1879. These would be my paternal great-grandparents. I am desperate to get the correct information because there is much confusion in the research my sister and I are doing. Has anyone ever come across Lucy C Aswine in their research? Does anyone know anything about her? Any help you can offer would be very much appreciated! Thank you so much!

Aswine is actually Osborn,
Over the years of researching, I have found where names were spelled as pronounced, I found it interesting Lucy's middle initial C went with her in records except for one.
I found the marr. record you referred to.

Thank you so very much for all this information. I will share it with my sister. I'm delighted to have this name discrepancy cleared up. I know how things get misspelled and mispronounced, and I wondered if this had been the case with Lucy's maiden name (although Aswine and Osborn don't sound alike to me). Same with the middle initial, as you said. Thanks so much for taking the time to answer my question.

In certain sections of VA.WV and TN the dialect to this day can be misunderstood in translation. For example, my mother's name was Laura. In eastern tn, where she was raised, her name was pronounced laurie. In the census, the census taker took her named laurie, and wrote it down as it was pronounced, he heard Garry. Not Gary, but Garry. So, for the rest of history will see her name spelled Garry, but "daughter" checked on the census. I scratched my head on the name Aswine, realizing over the years of researching, I had never seen such a name. I am glad you are pleased with what has been found. Glad to help.
