Looking for more of the relatives of an Andrew Capello. Andrew was born in Italy, and died on Sept. 24, 1944 in LaSalle County (South Ottawa TWP.)Illinois. He is buried in Benld Cemetery, Macoupin Co., IL. He had 2 sons that we know of so far, Lorenzo, who married Catterina(Katherine) Roucaglione, lived in Joliet, IL, and had a son named Arthur. Lorenzo died in 1945, and Arthur died in 1947. The other was James Ross Capello, who married Frieda, and they had at least 7 children (Ora, Rose, Charles, William, Harry, James, un-known infant). James died in Sangamon Co., Clear Lake TWP., Illinois on June 6, 1941. Ora, the son of James had 5 children with his wife (Marie Nielson). We are looking for some more of the Capello Relatives from around the area. We did find a Francesca Capello, that married a Peter Gaddo in 1914, they moved towards Chicago, IL and it is believed that she was a relative of Andrew's. Any other links to the family would be gratefully appreciated. There seems to be some more from the Illinois Counties of Will, Marshall, Bureau other close counties. But not sure of the relationship (if any) to them yet. Thank You.

I happened to be searching this site and came upon your message about the Capello name. My maiden name was Capello and my grandparents lived in Granville, IL (Bureau County) which you mentioned in your post. I don't know if there is a connection. Perhaps a cousin or something.

My great grandfather was John Capello, born in Salto Canavese, Italy on January 26, 1852 and died February 21, 1914 (I assume in Granville, IL where they lived). He was married to Maria Cecilia Vercellino who was born in 1854 in Salto Canavese, Italy and died in Spring Valley, IL in 1897. They had seven children: John, Jr. (my grandfather), Joseph who died of typhoid at 13, Annie who died in the late 1980's or early 1990's, Frank born 3-1-1892 died 9-1973, Christina, Rosie and Peter a suicide.

My grandfather John Capello was born in Coal City, IL on 11-2-1884. He died March 17, 1961 in Spring Valley, IL. He is buried in Granville Cemetary. He was married to Eunice Briddick, born 6-12-1892 (I think in Indiana - still looking into that) and died June 13, 1966 in Spring Valley. She is also buried in Granville Cemetary. They had four children: Joseph (my father) born 2-21-1912 died 6-27-1990, Esther born 10-31-1914, Laverne born 5-29-1915 died 3-20-73, and Laura born 11-27-1916.

My father Joseph married my mother Adeline DeGroot born 8-14-1912 who is 88 years old. They married in May of 1933. They had three children Sally, born 10-1-1936, Joan (that's me) born 5-15-39 and John born 4-7-42.

My brother is the last Capello in our family as he had no children.

At this point I'm trying to find out where my great grandfather immigrated from and where they landed in the US.

Have you any new info on your family?

Joan Montesa

My Briddick and Your Briddick have no connection as yet.

However, I did find a reference to a Eunice Briddick with siblings are John, William, Evelyn, Abe, Joseph, Hazel, Tom and Lonsdale. Father, Joseph Briddick, born in England, died 1-6-1920 in Granville, Illinois. Wife, Esther Lonsdale, born in 1861 in County Durham, England, died 11-19-1926 in Granville, Illinois.

Check out the Social Security Death Index for Illinois. Something of interest might be there.

Happy hunting

The Briddicks you mentioned in your message are my grandparents and greatgrandparents. I'll keep on looking. I'm having a lot of luck with my Capello ancestry. I just recently found the names of my greatgrandparents on the Italian passenger ship lists from Havre, France to America in 1885. That was really fun to find. I'm in the process of sending for birth records to the town where they were born using an address for getting vital records from there, which I found on an Italian website. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they will send something back. My grandfather was only an infant when they crossed. He was born in 1884. Thanks for responding. Joan
