According to family lore, which I am sure some of you are aware of, Franklin Bearce was the son of Mary Ellen Blaine and Noble Sullivan Bearce. He (Franklin Bearce) claimed James G. Blaine, his grandfather, was a son of John Blaine and Elizabeth Ann Blaine, as well as a cousin of the Senator, James G Blaine.

I am looking to find out if the following is true or not; Ultimately, Franklin Bearce claimed Mary Ellen Blaine, his mother, was the daughter of James Gillespie Blaine and Nandachine Hoover, who allegedly had a sister, Millicent.

The problem is, I can not find a Nandachine anywhere.

Feel free to contact me at as well as this forum.

Hi...if you put Nadachine Hoover into Google...several sites come up mentioning her Indian connections and second marriage to Hoover.

thank you! I will check into that, although I have not had much luck doing that, so far. I have found no historical records, so far, for the Hoover name. I don't have an Ancestry subscription right now, due to budgeting.

I am also trying to find the connection of Mary Ellen Blaine (Bearce) to the rest of the Blaine family. Any leads there?

Let me clarify: I have found no marriage records to prove the connection of Nadachine and James Gillespie Blaine, alleged 1st cousin of James Gillespie Blaine, the Senator.

I read somewhere a refutation of the Hoover connection, but am unable to make any records appear either way.

from "Out of the past" by Franklin Bearce"

"Mary Ellen Blaine, my mother, wife of Noble Sullivan Bearce, was a dau of James Gillispee Blaine and Nandachine Hoover. My grandfather James G. Blaine was a son of John Blaine and his second cousin Elizabeth Ann Blaine. My grandfather James G. Blaine, was a first cousin of James G. Blaine, American diplomat, and Sec of State and one time canidate for President of this commonwealth; There (Their ?) fathers were brothers, and they were both named after their Grandfather, James Gillispe Blaine. "

I can only find hostorical records for the Senator...
