Good Day,

I am researching the above surnames, but specifically, am looking for a death record for a John b. 1857 (Norway) and Gure (b. 1846) Brubakken. They resided in the La Belle district of Marshall.

Thank you.

I'm trying to locate an Enid Ringdahl that is a grandaughter of Tom Legard. I am a Legard relative interested in what genealogy you have on that branch of the family. Are you the correct Enid Ringdahl?

Hi David: My name is Enid Ringdahl, but I am not a granddaughter of Tom Legard. Tom Legard married my grandmother's sister, Agnes Lono. Enid Mary Kuyath was the daughter of Eva Marie Legard and Daniel Kuyath...Enid Kuyath was the granddaughter of Tom Legard. I believe she just recently passed away. I knew Tom's daughter, Thelma, and her family quite well as they used to attend our Lono/Gunderson family reunions. Sorry I missed your inquiry until now.

Hi Enid: Thanks for the clarification. Yes, Eva Marie Legard passed away 26 June, 2007. I recently attended the 100th birthday of one of her 1st cousins, Myrna Carrie Sather Roisen. There were many Legards there, including two other grandchildren of Tom's: Linda Legard Brooks and Jerry Legard.
Do you have complete information on Agnes Lono, such as her d.o.b. and Norwegian first name? If you ever want any information on the Legards, I've got quite a bit, including much of the Norwegian heritage from Røldal and Sulda. I've got several Lonos and a Ringdal in my database from there. - Dave Becker

Hi Dave:
Here is what I have on Agnes...information for 1986.
Asjer (Asgjer) Albrektsdatter Lono was born on January 19, 1883 at Botnen, Roldal, and baptised on January 21, 1883. She was ten years old when her family emigrated to America in 1893. She took nurses training at Madison Hospital, Madison, South Dakota, and later worked at that same facility as a Registered Nurse. On June 24, 1907 she married Thomas Legard, whose family had also come from Roldal. The Legards farmed near Nunda, South Dakota. Four children were born to Agnes and Tom. Agnes died of cancer on December 6, 1930 at the age of 47.
Peder Ringdal, Roldal parish priest, signed the "character testimonial" paper for the Lono family, dated June 4, 1893.
Assume you have information on Tom's children.
I have copies of the Roldal and Suldal bygdeboks, but I would like to hear what additional information you may have. Yes, I'd like to know more about the Legard family. Enid

Hello!

My name is Lisa. I am attempting to do our family history, and I have finally managed to figure out that my great grandmother's maiden name was Martha Legard, born about 1888. Unfortunately, I have been unable to find any decent information on either her or her husband Albert George Sather (or George Albert Sather) anywhere for the most part. Only bits and pieces. According to my father, Marvin, she was born/raised in North or South Dakota, but possibly may have been from Norway originally?

I noticed one of the posts here was regarding Myrna Roisen,of Salem/Silverton Oregon who was my great aunt, so I am hoping that this would be the correct place to ask.

Any information you have would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Hello Lisa,
Yes, I've got a huge amount of information on your family and ancestors. Martha Legard Sather was my grandfather Otto Legard's sister. I remember going to visit Martha and Albert when I was a young child in Silverton, OR, where my mother grew up. Martha was born 3 Apr 1877 in New London, Outagamie Co, WI and died in Silverton OR 20 Nov 1971 at age 94. I've got information on the family back into the 1600s and have twice visited Røldal, Hordaland, Norway and Suldal, Rogaland, Norway where Martha's parents were born. Your father, Marvin, would be my 2nd cousin. Please contact me via email at dbecker@lclark.edu.

Hello Dave-
I sent you an e-mail to address above but also figured I'd put a note here. Martha Legard Sather was the daughter of Amund Ormson Legard and Maggie Hauen. I believe Amund had a brother Knudt who married Maggie's sister Martha Hauen and I believe also settled near Nunda South Dakota (they had several children there). It appears Knudt died between 1890-1895 but I haven't yet been able to find a record. Knudt and Martha would be great great grandparents for me. Am interested in any info you have on Knudt/Amund and their family. I'm trying to use Digitalarkive website to backtrack to Norway but haven't been able to find a definite link yet. Appreciate any help.

Why is this current line of discussion entitled "Bratsveen's and Brubakken's"?
I was taking a look through to see if I could lend a hand in finding information in Norway and do not understand that and find it quite confusing.

What basic info do you have to further identify Amund Ormson Legard and Knudt (Ormson Legard?)
When, where born? and other family members or locations known?
