William Allchurch and Mary J. (Brockway) Allchurch

William and Mary Allchurch immigrated to Canada from England at or about 1906, and settled in Oxford County in the vicinity of Mary Allchurch (nee Brockway)'s sister Annie (Brockway) George.
I am trying to track down information on William (my maternal grandfather) for the period of time that he would have resided in Oxford County - from approximately 1906 to 1916. He subsequently married my maternal grandmother Isabella George (nee Hunter) in 1916.
The confusing piece is that records appear to indicate that his first wife Mary did not pass away until 1922 and there doesn't appear to be a record of William divorcing Mary before he married my grandmother Isabella.
Any information, photos, etc. that could be shared would be greatly appreciated.

Just a Thought - You know that Mary ALLCHURCH - nee BROCKWAY - passed away in 1922.
Have you obtained the Registration of Death -Long Form Death Certificate
There should be indication of Marital Status at the time - married/ divorced etc name of spouse etc.
REGISTRATION of Marriage for William ALLCHURCH & Isabella GEORGE nee HUNTER - will show Marital status of both bride and groom - at the time of this marriage.

Perhaps the marriage between William ALLCHURCH - and Mary J. BROCKWAY - had been annulled ? -

Hi Karen,

I couldn't find William or Mary in the 1911 census, nor Mary in the 1921. I did find an 11 November 1920 border crossing record for Mary that has an interesting twist - she was travelling with her son, Clifford Allchurch, born in Woodstock, Ontario about 1912. Mary says she's a widow, living in Grimsby Beach, her closest relative in Canada is her sister, Mrs. Annie George in St. Catherines, and she's driving to Jacksonville, Florida to visit a friend, James Ford.

I could find not find a birth record for Clifford. He would have only been about 10 when Mary died so he either went to a relative or an orphanage.

I would try getting a copy of Mary's death record and possibly Clifford's birth record.

Cheers,

Soosi

Don't understand why there is no death registration for Mary unless she died in the US. Did not find her on any 1921 census in US or Canada.
