In case this is also helpful to your research:
In 1874, Mathilde Plötzke Walzog wrote from Breslau to Mayor Ludington in Milwaukee. The letter was published in at least one of the German papers. She wanted help to locate her deceased sister's (Otilie Selma Plötzke Kartschoke) daughters: Bertha Paulina Kartschoke & Anna Otilie Kartschoke Leitzmann (whom she identifies in the letter as married to Carl Martin Leitzmann).
I've indexed multiple death notices and Danksagung for both the mother and daughter (possibly others like Carl Martin Leitzmann). Mathilde apparently didn't know that both mother and daughter were deceased by 1874.
I don't own these clippings, but indexed them in "Milwaukee's German Newspapers; an index of death notices and related items" (1844-1950).
