Seeking info on Oscar Voisin. Born abt.1841 . He married Rosa Victoria Dessan, she was the widow of a Mr. Ferrand.
Rose or Rosa was born abt.1847. They married in New Orleans, La. May 3rd. 1879. I believe Rosa or Rose Dessan's father was Jean Dessan from France, but they may have lived in St John the Baptist, La as I believe Oscar Voisin may have also. Any info is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi,
Rose Victoria Dessan is the daughter of Jean Dessan. Both were born in France. I have two documentations on my tree. The first is her death cert but unfortunately I'm not able to read the handwriting that indicates what city in France. Feel free to take a look and see if you can transcribe...lol. Also, another Ferrand cousin found her death announcement which also indicates she was a native of France.

At this point, I believe Oscar was her second husband. I have some info but since I'm a descendent of her daughter Victoria with her first husband, I haven't gotten to much.

I can be reached here or at melinda.bourg@live.com if you want to share more info.

Dear Sir: my mother's maiden name was NABORS and longstanding thought has been that what happened was a particular French Hugenot (a religion that had undergone repeated persecution in France) by the name of VOISIN migrated to the New World and changed his name to NEIGHBOURS upon arrival - get this - in the late 1600s. I petitioned to have the NABORS surname project created at Family Tree DNA and have been it's only administrator. Just a few years ago, I requested that Family Tree DNA create the VOISIN surname project and they did.

I would like to get a few more VOISINs take the Y-DNA test at my own expense. Very simply:
a) I buy the kit, have it shipped to your "snail mail" address;
b) you scrape the inside of your cheeks (so no blood test, no body cavity exams (chuckle), no needles, no doctor appointment, etc, etc, and etc);
c) we all wait for 3 to 5 weeks;
d) results are posted on their website; only YOU will have access to that kit's account at Family Tree DNA;
e) you then JOIN the VOISIN surname project at no expense of any kind. The intent here is to establish a DNA 'profile' or 'pattern' or 'signature' for the VOISIN surname.

The objective is to establish the VOISIN DNA signature, compare it to that of the NABORS (DNA signature), and thereby confirm, or reject, that long-standing thought.
