I am completing a Fann/Fenn family history that begins with John Fann d. 1719 Richmond Co, Va. His descendants are included as much as information could be found. They moved through southern VA into NC and then into GA - Zachariah in 1758 and Jesse, William, Travis, and others during the 1790s and early 1800s. They lived in several counties in GA - Hall, Clarke, Forsyth, Miller, Hancock, etc.

The migration west finds them in AL, MS, LA, TX.

If you are interested and want to be notified when the book goes to press, please send me your name, address and e-mail.

I didn't think there were any other Fann's (aside from my immediate family) on the face of this planet! Please email me when the book comes out. I'd love to read it! Thanks.

I am a decendent of Anderson Alexander Fann, born 15 Mar 1846. He married Martha Ann Harris on 21 Apr 1864 in Cannon County, TN. Anderson's father is a G.A. Fann nicknamed "Grundy" by everyone I have spoken to on this subject. Grundy is buried on Dolittle Rd. near Woodbury, TN. His tombstone dates are 9 Apr. 1822--d. 23 Aug. 1905. Buried beside him and also noted on the tombstone is Martha L. Fann, 22 May 1844-24 Nov 1910, a sister I believe. Grundy was married to Caroline E. Sauls on 10 Mar 1844, Cannon Co. TN according to the Cannon Co. Geneology web page records. I do not know if Caroline was his first or only wife.

I have not been able to determine Grundy's father, though I believe he probably came from Greene County, Tennessee--George, Phillip, or Solomon lived there around 1800.

I would be interested in any information on G.A. Fann. He had three sons that I know of: Anderson, William H. Fann 1848-1901, and John L. Fann 1849--?. All were married in Cannon County.

Read your message about Fanns in Cannon county Tennessee. My grandfather, Haman David Fann was from Cannon county. I don't know what year he was born. I never knew him. It would have been in the 1800's. My father, Paul Alexander Fann, Sr. was born in 1906, Aug.8th and grew up in Cannon County. I have been very interested to find other Fanns who might be in the area.

We're kin! Grundy A. Fann is my g/g/g/gf; Alec is my g/g/gf; William Ashley (Bill or Billy) is my g/gf; Homer Brandon is my gf; and Curtis Ray is my dad. I'm still in Middle Tennessee; was born in Cannon County myself. Which of Grandpa Alec's kids' kids are you?

We actually have a PHOTO of Grandpa Alec; I'll have to swipe and copy it. Plenty of other photos of Alec's kids survive, including the one of the family reunion at Uncle John's up at his house on what's now the old 70S at Culpepper.

And, like you, I've hit the same stone wall with Grandpa Grundy. E-mail me at your convenience and we'll compare notes, and maybe you can tell me who this 60-plus-year-old woman named Jane Fann is who showed up after Granny Caroline died! (BTW, the Martha L. Fann buried next to him is Martha Lee or Lou Harris Fann, his third wife. I don't have my paperwork in front of me - I'm at work, bad me - but Caroline died when the boys were little and he remarried and that one died too and he remarried again.)

Look forward to hearing from you and other cousins!

I'm interested in your book.

The 1850 census shows Franklin, Grundy, and Jackson in Cannon County. I have traced my great back to Jackson born CA 1817, wife Martha. Son James A. Fann married Sarah Jane Harris in 1869 in Cannon County. I think that Jackson, Grundy, and Franklin are brothers but have no proof.
History of Woodbury and Cannon County Tennessee by Sterling Spurlock Brown (1936) "G.A. Fann(1822-1905) and Martha Salus Fann (1844-1910)" 1850 census shows Grundy's wife Caroline E.. Grundy not listed in 1860-1870 census. I don't know about 1880 census. I can't find my 1880 census on the Fanns. He is shown in 1900 census with wife Martha Cannon County 6th district.
I have not worked on these lines since the 80's and any information that you may provide would be greatly appreciated. Please e-mail.

1900 Cannon County Census shows Hamon D. Faun born May 1865, Wife Fanny Born July 1873. 4 children: Eula C. May 1890; Thomas L. Feb 1892; Hessie A. Aug 1894; Wyle L. Feb 1898. 1910 shows Harman and Francis with 8 children. The other four are George, Ernest, Paul and Robert. I believe that this line goes back to Franklin. I worked on this in the 80's for a friend.

Thanks for the info on Haman Fanny

Thanks Elaine for the info on my grandparents. There was at least one other son born after 1910. His name was Elmer Mercer Fann. We knew him as Uncle Moon. He was the last to pass away only a few years ago. My future address is
