I am searching for this location, purportedly in the United States.

1911 England Census indicates that a relative, John Matthew Teasdale Dodd(s) was born in Hutles Blocks, America.

I found a Philadelphia passenger list indicating that John's mother, Susan Dodds, and John's step-brothers, Robert and James, arrived in Philadelphia in December of 1887, from Liverpool.

Presumably, she was coming to America to be with her husband, who more than likely immigrated prior to Susan. Also, as John was not listed as a passenger on the Philadelphia arrival, presumably he was born after Susan's arrival in America.

This family was back in the UK by 1901, as shown on the 1901 England Census.

Okay, I agree it appeard to say "Hutles Blocks" America. The last word is Blocks, the first has the "H" written over something else before the "utles". Doesn't sound familiar at all.

1911 England census: Tanfield, Durham, Lanchester

John Matthew DODDS, age 23 (about 1888)

Father Matthew DODDS, age 61 (about 1850), is employed as coal Hewer Miner.

Using the ages of John's younger brothers, he is found in the 1901 England census for South Shields, Durham. At that time his birth is listed as Wark, Northumberland, England.

1891 England, Greencroft, Annfield Plain, Durham. John M. T. DODD [sic], age 2, born: "America Brittish [sic] Subject". Sister Susan is age 3, born England. Father Matthew age 40, mother Susan age 27 (about 1864)

Is this John Matthew Dodds the one who died in WW1?:

UK, Soldiers Died in the Great War, 1914-1919

I checked the USGS - Geographic Names Information System
and there's only one place in the US with xxxx Blocks.

There's someplace called "Heaths Blocks 39 and 40" Utah. I have no idea what this is. It is a very strange name, to say the least....

I know that some towns / cities, when adding new platted land, would call that area the "Smith" block, "McDonalds" block, or other. I think it's unlikely, though, that a family would that designation as the birthplce of a child.
