Hi I am researching the Poucher name from Lincolnshire UK I would like to hear from anyone who may have a connection with the Pouchers from This area, I descend from Henry Poucher he was married to a Mary not sure of their mariage date as I cannot seem to find one, they had the following children:- Rachel, George (my great great great grandfather), and Lavina they may have had more children but I cannot find them at the moment. George married Maria and had the following children Fred bn 1864, George Bn 1867 (my great great grandfather), Richard Bn 1871, George Junior married a Margaret (possibly Allen) in 1894 and they had the following children:- George Loftus, Elizabeth and Gladys (my great grandmother), I think the family may have moved to Hull at some time as this is where Gladys and all of the children where born although they were residing in Lincolnshire on the 1901 census, but Gladys actually married in Hull and Lived there for a while before moving to Barrow in Furness and then back to HUll which is where she died. Soryy to go on a bit but thought I would try and provide as much information that I can I have actually got more information on brothers and sisters family of George Poucher senior.
Well I look forward to heaing from anyone if they have any information.
Thanks
Jo

I am trying to trace the Pouchers who gave place of birth as Norfolk. I think I found him William Pucher born Diss 1769.

Have you come across the female name Mingay as that is the name of his daughter that was born Wisbech 1797 and married William Rogers a hairdresser and lived on the OLd Market,Wisbech on the 1851 cences with her father William living with them,he was a Land Lord.

I have a 2nd Great-Grandmother Sarah POUCHER (reportedly born abt 1836 in Nocton, Lincolnshire), daughter of William Poucher (abt 1809-1882 in the Nocton,Lincolnshire area). Sarah married a John STOCKS (born about 1835 in Lincoln, Lincolnshire) in about 1855. Taken from the 1871 & 1881 census, their children were: George (1858), Annie (1864), Elizabeth (1865), Emma (1867), Thomas (1869), John (1870), William (1872), Harry (1873),and Alice (1876). Annie STOCKS (my Great-Grandmother) married a John HALL and emigrated to the United States.
Any common relations?

Hello Jo,
Just read your message posted in 2005 (!) I too am researching the Poucher clan, most of whom appear to have originated in Lincolnshire, England. Some of the people you have mentioned, George Loftus for example, are on my family tree, albeit distantly related from way back. You may have made considerable progress since your message so perhaps you have info on the Henry you mention? If you want to contact me in order that we can update each other my email address is rodneyandjackie@yahoo.co.uk Hope to hear from you
Best wishes,
Rodney P.

Hi,

George Loftus was my great-grandad... not sure where Loftus came from, but he was known by that name, as there were a lot of George’s in the family.
