The Spring 2018 issue of Archaeology Ireland (https://archaeologyireland.ie/recent-issues/spring-2018/
) has an article entitled "Decrypting the Dead" on the findings from the first phase of the Earls of Barrymore Project (https://sites.google.com/site/barrymorednaproject/
). A subscription is required, but I can send a copy of the article to anyone who is interested. To request one, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
We will be conducting additional research at the Barrymore Crypt in Castlelyons, Cork, during June 2018. Unfortunately, we have not been able to date to obtain permission to take samples for additional DNA testing. If we cannot gain permission, this phase of the project will focus on using advanced scanning technology in an attempt to do facial reconstructions of the two men whose remains are in the crypt. We will also continue our genealogical research and genetic testing of living members of the Barry family in order to explore their possible relationship to the Earls of Barrymore.
Thanks to all who supported this project.
