I believe the correct spelling should be Hubbard's Cove instead of Hubert's Cove. That is what I have always been told. My fsther's grandmother was a Winton from this area. I would love to exchange information with anyone interested. My father has also talked about Burrow's Cove in connection with the Winton's. It seems that they owned quite a bit of land near the Grundy Co.and Coffee Co. borders. My e-mail address is chesterfamily@yahoo.com. Be patient, and I'll get back to you ASAP. Thanks.

My g.grandmother was Florence Martha Winton(nickname Fannie). She was born 12/1868. Her father was James Winton. He owned a lot of land in the Hubbard's Cove area. In fact, he deeded several hundred acres to my g.grandfather James Reed when he married Fannie in 1886. I believe James Winton's father was John Winton? When my grandmother died in 1958, the visitation list included this name:Claude Winton. When my aunt died in 1941, these names were listed:James Winton, Maggie Winton, Jim and Emma Winton, Carrie Winton. Are any of these names familiar to you? Thanks for the reply.

I would need to get into my files but, Rev. John WINTON, whom I am almost positive you are talking about, was a HUGE man. Over 500 lbs according to family legends. I also have records on his wife, Arabella CUNNYNGHAM. John was a well known and wealthy man. I have a copy of his will in front of me. William, his son, is my line...but, in it is mentioned a James Wintin (WINTON). He owned land on the Tennessee River, islands, etc. His will was written in Roane County, TN in 1845. He is buried in Muddy Creek Methodist Church Cemetery...which at the time WAS Roane County but, now is Loudon County, TN. Some of Roane County, TN was broken up and incorporated into other counties. Now, I don't seem to find a mention of Hubbards Cove but, this is what I have. firewalker@ncfreedom.net
