Hi Lori,

I was doing some research on the internet and inadvertently came across your information. I just wanted to introduce myself as my maiden name is Lori Converse; my fathers' family is from the West Springfield area. I believed my great grandparents settled there in the late 1800's. I am wondering if there is any connection? I plan on showing the information that you have collected to by father to see if he recognizes any of the names.

Looking for information about family of Amasa P. Converse and wife, Harriet, who lived in Michigan in 1850 census. He born about 1812 in Mass, she born in Mass about 1817. They had a daughter, Harriet, born about 1839 in Mich. Suspect they are related to Ruth Bothwell, whose maiden name was Converse. Ruth lived next door to them in 1850. She was born in Mass. about 1806, married James Bothwell in Burlington, VT, May 13, 1839 and moved to Illinois shortly thereafter. Ruth, James, and James' brother, William and his wife, Dinah (Manson) Bothwell (also married in Burlington in 1839) were founding members of Albany, ILL, Congregational church.

Any leads appreciated. Thanks.

I am trying to contact Lori Converse. I have tried the email listed in 2004 but it bounces back to me. She is the GGG granddaughter of Alonzo Converse (1813-1904). I am the great-great-granddaughter of Harriet [Converse] Parker, who I believe was the step-sister/first cousin of Alonzo. Her death record states that her father was "Emmasez" of Stafford, CT. However, I believe that was a mistake and should have been written "Amasa". She was born in 1817 in Stafford and in 1830 there was an Amasa Converse head of household with a girl her age. He is there in 1840 also without the girl in his household. At that time my Harriet Converse was married to Emery Parker and wouldn't have been in her father's household.

I would just like to touch base with Lori Converse and exchange info. Thanks for any help anyone might be able to give me to make the connection. The main things I would like to learn are:
1) If Amasa Converse of Stafford, Ct (born in 1790, probably died in 1857) had a daughter named Harriet born in about 1817.
2) What his first wife's name was.
3) Was his father Asa Converse and what was Asa's wife's name.
