Looking for any info about GORDON M. SHARPs family, his parents and grandparents if possible. I was able to find him in the 1930 census married to MINNIE M. (WOLF) SHARP. He listed his parents as being from Scotland (dad) and Ohio (mom).

My father-in-law, Richard A. Sharp, Sr. (Gordon's grandson) remembers him having a brother named Alexander. Other than that he could not remember...

The only lead I have, which I am not sure is the right one is that his dad's name might have been Peter Sharp and his mother Roseanna E. there any way to confirm this info?

Thank you very much for any help you can provide,

Elizabeth Sharp

If you found him in the 1930 census, you also should have found him in 1920, 1910, and 1900.

Gordon Merriman Sharp, b. 14 Apr 1886, in OH. Son of Peter Sharp (b Jun 1851 in Scot) and Anna Elizabeth (b Jul 1853 in OH). The family lived in Painesville, OH, where Peter was a shoemaker. Peter died between 1900 and 1910. Anna Elizabeth probably died 8 Jan 1936, in Cuyahoga Co., OH. (check death certif #926)

Peter arrived in the US in 1875. He and Anna were married ca. 1884.

Gordon married 1909-1910, and was living with wife Minnie
in Cleveland in 1910. He went to work as a machinist for the Yeoman Machine Co., located at Superior & E. 9th.

Alexander Duncan Sharp was born 17 Nov 1892 in Ohio. He lived with his mother until he was of age, then his mother lived with him. They were in Painesville at least until 1920 -- see Lake County deeds for the sale of 618 S. State St., which had been owned by Peter since before 1895, and occupied by his widow. By 1825, Alexander married Martha M. _________ and moved to East Cleveland, where Anna was living with them on Savannah Ave. An Alexander Sharp (shown as born 17 Oct 1892) died in Joliet, IL in Jun 1971 (SSN 286-05-7370)

Hi and thank you for responding to my post :)

Since I posted, I did find about Gordon's brother living with his mom (Anna), and then Anna living with him (and his wife) after she became a widow. I've also contacted someone through searching "Family Trees" that helped me link Anna Elizabeth to her parents, grandparents and her very big, extended family.

As of right now, I'm still having a hard time trying to find out about Gordon's grandparents on his dad's side. Peter Sharp seems to be a very common name and without knowing where in Scotland he was born, it's hard to know, from all the censuses in England/Scotland, which one is the one that I'm looking for.

The quest continues :)
