Are you providing all the information you can on your father? Is there more info on the death record, for example? Is it a death certificate? If not the certificate, it would be a good thing to obtain.

A quick search of 1911 census, I found no George Hamilton's in Nova Scotia born Feb 1906. I did find a George Henault born in Feb 6th 1905 in Quebec. Can you provide any more info?

Here are four people researching Hamilton's of Colchester County Nova Scotia. Through researching a bit in Nova Scotia, this is a possible birth place of your father. After clicking on the link, scroll down till you find the four Hamilton names, and they all have email addresses you can use to contact them for further information. I found George's and Lewis' from Colchester County, but no 2/6/1906 birth record...but that doesn't mean he wasn't born then. There's always the possibility that the birth date you have is not correct. I've found three reasons for "mistakes" like that to happen during this time period. 1) WW1 and WW2 draft, and 2) immigration fudging, and 3) transcription/human memory error. That is IF your birth date is an error. I found a Lewis Kent Hamilton, son of George born January 26, 1909 (baptism could have been on 2/6??), in Cross Roads, Colchester Co, Nova Scotia, and recorded Feb 20th 1909.

Any idea what faith your parents may have been?

Of course I don't mean death record. A death certificate often has
1) Place of birth of the deceased.
2) Parents names of deceased.
3) Name of person filling out information on the deceased.

All that info is important.

*Contacting the Funeral Home - may also prove helpful - they will have further information that does not appear in the Registration of Death - or the Obituary. [there may be concern re Privacy]

DEATH CERTIFICATE:
Here - the Death Certificate is :
BASIC INFORMATION - taken from the Registration.
Good for proof of the event - without disclosing personal information to those with no need to know.

Also found out that George (aged 28 and father of Lewis Kent) married a Mabel Hamilton in 1902, and that George's brother Lewis (aged 27) married a Mabel Little (aged 19) in 1902 and their parents were James M. and Margaret Hamilton.

The Lewis and George connections make this family interesting. Perhaps one of the brothers had a George Lewis born in 1906. Contacting the four Hamilton researchers of Colchester may prove helpful.
