Rottheus/Rothuis <1721

One branch of my family line (Rodenhouse<-Rothuizen<-Rothuis or Rottheus) runs out of references with the birth of Wilhelm Rottheus in 1721, with a separate comment that he was living in Stadtlohn, Germany. Those descendants generally lived in Gelderland after that. I've looked at some German databases, but can't find either Rottheus or Rothuis.

There is a separate Rothuis line that is from the Frisian Islands, but is not related to my line.

Any suggestions as to where to look for more information on Wilhelm Rottheus (1721) and his family?

Hello Elna,

Possible that they married in Sudlohn ofcourse ,
you could mail to the archiv Sudlohn/Oeding, I was very well helped there. If German language is too difficult, English will be understand too I assume.
website :

mail-adress: gemeinde(@)

Or you can try by posting your question on the German Message Boards,

always mention the religion the family had -if you know.

Then another option: there is a German Genelogie Forum on
that's in German, but English language will be understand also perhaps, you will to have log in with a mailadres and password.
Then go to Regional and choose for Nordrhein Westfalen, Sudlohn is in this state.

Thanks for the reference! Only one of the names links to anything I already have, but I now have three more names to consider.

As for multiple spellings, I already have Rothuizen, Rothuisen, Rotshuizen, Rothuis, Rottheus and, in the US, Rodenhouse.
