I almost hesitate to ask about her. I am surprised at the sarcasm and rudeness of some of the answers on this site.
However, her name is Maoma, perhaps spelled Maomi. She was married to a Joseph Standifer(Standerfer, etc. - different spellings of the name). He was born around1807, in NC, I believe. I saw the name"Furry" alongside Maoma's name, but I don't know why.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In an automated search of the Federal census for your names, the earliest listing I found in the search for Joseph Standifer/Standefer was 1870, in Tazewell, Claiborne co, TN, a white man, age 60, born in TN, married to Nancy, a white woman, age 60, born in VA

In 1790 there were 1,790 persons enumerated with the given name Elisha, 174 of them in NC, none with Standifer surname.

In 1800, there were 2,560 persons enumerated with the given name Elisha, 221 in NC, and zero in TN

In 1810, there were none in TN, and of the 213 Elishas in NC none surnamed Standifer or Standefer, of anything close to that name.

So, I guess Elisha & Joseph were enumerated with a diferent spelling.

I did find one listing for a MAOMA in North Carolina:
Maoma Pennington, white, domestic servant, 22, NC, working for John & Isabel Ham family.
1870, NORTH CAROLINA, ASHE county, HORSE CRK Township, Page: 488-B

Then I widened the search to all states & found:
Maoma Owens, no twnshp, King George county, VA, 1810
Maoma Bail, white, 42, PA, East Goshen Chester county, PA 1860

Maoma Carroll, white, 43, TN, Harmony twnshp, Washington co, MO, 1860

Maoma Ellis, white, 27, KY, Taylorsport twnshp, Boone county, KY

Maoma R. Jones, white, 47, TN, Hartsville, Sumner co, TN 1860

Maoma Morgan, white, 67, NC, Irene, Tipah co, MS 1860

Maoma Sheets, white, 72, PA, Madison, Jefferson co, IN 1860
Maoma Curl, white, 51, OH, Monroe, Logan co, OH 1870

Maoma Evans, white, 16, TX, Woods, Panola co, TX, 1870

Maoma A. Goodrich, white, 35, MA, Boston, Suffolk co, MA, 1870

Maoma Groves, white, 42, OH, Perry, LOgan co, OH, 1870

Maoma Penington, white, 22, NC, Horse Creek, Ashe co, NC, 1870 (vd above)
1880 - don't have online access
Maoma Caldwell, white, 33, OH, Columbus, Franklin co, OH, 1900

Maoma Seism, white, 78, NY, Maine twnshp, Broome co, NY, 1900

Maoma Webster, white, 53, OH, Price precint, Linn co, OH, 1900
search - "MAOMI"
HATCH, MAOMI white, 69, NH, Boston, Suffolk co, MA 1870

KNAPPER, MAOMI, white, 51, MO, Big River twnshp, Jefferson co, MO, 1870

MCCULLEN, MAOMI, white, 70, NJ, 5th Ward, NYC, NY, 1870
1880 - don't have online access
CANADAY, MAOMI, white, 56, NC, Banner twnshp, Johnston co, NC, 1900

DELCHIELD,MAOMI, black, 40, MD, Philadelphia, Philadelphia co, PA, 1900

DOOLY , MAOMI, white, 33, LA, New Orleans, Orleans parish, LA, 1900

DYER,MAOMI M., white, 22, MI, Frost twnshp, Clare co, MI, 1900

GOCKLEY, MAOMI, white, 17, PA, Reading, Berks co, PA, 1900

HUDINS, MAOMI E, white, 60, NY, Aurora, Kane co, IL, 1900

I don't suspect any of these are your folks, but the Maoma name intrigued me so I decided to take a look.

From the census data I did find, there were none by the name Standifer/Standerfer/Standefer enumerated as Indian.

For Maoma/Maomi one black person, and the balance white.

Maybe this will at least be interesting reading.

Good luck.

I noticed you have Massengill andCheek in your query of names. Those are both in my sons line by his father Mont E. Masingale. The Masingale name was changed little by little in various parts of the US. Mont Dean Masingale (the grandfather) says that his family did not go on trail of tears and hid in mountains. Can you provide any information on this? Iam sorry I have no info on MAOMA at all. But will share what i do have on Massengill/Masingale

Thank you for the information. I believe what is available at Familysearch is transcribed data, rather than census images, but they do a very nice job at FamilySearch of transcribing.

If you find anything on her, please let me know. I am a descendant and remember reading something about Maomi being native american. But, I have her married to Abraham?
