I have just received a letter from the parish clerk,
Thomas Dowling, at Ballymacelligott Catholic Parish.
There are no church records for my family there. My Thomas
and Ellen Griffin immigrated in 1845 to Syracuse, New York. Records in Ballymacelligot don’t begin until 1868. Thomas and Ellen married and
lived in Tursillagh during the first year of their marriage,
and I have assumed that one or both of them
were probably born in Tursillage.

I will check in Tralee Parish next. I understand that
part of Tursillage lies within that parish.

Thomas Dowling, has suggested that there may be
some records at St. Columbanus Hospital in Killarney.
Has anybody else tried that?

I see it's been some years since you posted. I was wondering if you knew if Thomas Dowling is still the clerk at Ballymacelligott, and what a good way to contact him would be?

There are two Catholic churches in Ballymacelligott, St. Brendans and the Immaculate Conception, my grand uncle was parish priest of the IC.

Hello, can you solve a mystery for me and tell me where, as close as possible, St. Brendan's is? I am looking for in terms of what Townland and near what landmarks but any information will help!
Also does St. Brendan's (or Immaculate conception) have a cemetery?

Our family has an "extract from Parochial Register" that was was transcribed in 1935 giving the baptism of our ancestor Hanna Quill as taking place in St. Brendan's, Parish of Ballymacellligott on June 13, 1859.

Is it possible the St. Brendan's church no longer exists or is a ruin? Any comments appreciated!
