My father is a Thomas Windham and his father also was a Thomas Guy Windham who lived in Andalusia, AL (DOB 3/30/1893). I also have record of a Thomas Windham (DOB 11/30/1834). His wife's name was Sara Jane Smith (DOB 8/24/1823). Don't know if this will be of use to you or not. If I can help further, send me a note.

I think you may have your dates switched on Thomas and Sarah Windham. Thomas Windham was born on August 24, 1825 in South Carolina and died on March 18, 1892 in Ewell, Dale Co., Alabama. He is buried in the old Andrews/Windham Cemetery in Dale Co., Alabama. In or about 1856, Thomas married his second wife, Sarah Jane Smith, who was born on November 30, 1834 in Georgia and died on August 7, 1905 in Dale Co., Alabama. She is buried in Daleville Cemetery, Dale Co., Alabama. They had the following children: Ida I.(1859-1916), Thomas Foster(1861-1941), Loren Carson(1868-1954), Alva F.(b.aft.1861), Samuel(b.aft.1861), Laura Susan(1856-1906), and Doll Windham(?). I am pretty sure this is the same Thomas and Sarah you mention in you message. You will find some of their children also buried in Daleville Cemetery. Thomas was first married to Mary Ann Peacock on May 1, 1844. They had 4 children from 1845-1851. Mary Jane died in May of 1853.

Do you know if Thomas and Mary Jane Windham had a son by the name of "Miles"? I do not have a DOB.

Don't show a Miles. From what I have Thomas and Mary only had four children: Dallas Buford(1845-1918), Almeida J.(1846-1935), Nancy Ann(1849-1923), and Anthony Banks(1851-aft.1900). Dallas Buford is buried in Fairview Cemetery, Shelby Co., TX; Almeida J. is buried in Claybank Cemetery, Ozark, Dale Co., Alabama with her husband Simeon W. Brackin; Nancy Ann is buried in Carroll Cemetery, Ozark, Alabama with her husband Noah Carroll; Anthony Banks married a Natalie Henderson.

I'm looking for a Thomas Windham born 11/30/1834 married to a Sara Jane Smith who was born 8/24/1823, father of William Miles Windham from Florida. I believe Thomas was also from Florida. Any help would be appreciated.

I am afraid you may have the wrong parents for your William Miles Windham. Although, I do not have all nine of Thomas and Sarah Jane Windham's children in my database. This William Miles might have been one of them. The Florida birthplace could be possible since Dale Co., AL borders the Florida panhandle. Thomas Windham was born on August 24, 1825 in South Carolina (probably Darlington) and died on March 18, 1892 in Ewell, Dale Co., AL. Your birthdate for Thomas is actually the birthdate of Sarah Jane Smith and she was born in Georgia. Sarah Jane died on August 7, 1905 in Dale Co., AL. Thomas was buried in the Andrews/Windham Cemetery in Dale Co., AL and Sarah Jane was buried in the Daleville Cemetery in Daleville, AL. Thomas was married to Mary Ann Peacock prior to his marriage to Sarah Jane. They had four children: Dallas Buford, Almeida J., Nancy Ann, and Anthony Banks. Thomas and Sarah Jane had nine children according to info I have. The ones I have are: Ida I., Thomas Foster, Loren Carson, Alva F., Samuel, Laura Susan, and Doll. I have some documentation to prove these, but not for everyone. Hope this helps you. Craig

It may be that William Miles Windham was the brother of Thomas Guy Windham and not his father? The only info I have on the father of Thomas Guy is that he was from Florida and he married Minnie McDougald from Alabama.
A "Rushton Family History" by Billie Capell
(Fourth Generation 141-8)states that "Guy Windham's parents were William Miles Windham and Minnie McDougald." Can anyone verify?

There is another Tom Windham from Coffee County Al., Elba actually, lived on Smith Ave. and was born around the early 1870's, and he had a daughter named Gussie. That's all I know for now, but if you need any more information, I can maybe get it.
