I am looking for any information on Stillman Niles and/or Jane Rose. DOB is unknown for either, but Stillman was born in Wisconsin and Jane was born in New York. Several of their children were born in Juneau County. Some are:
Prentice Eugene Niles (Born 30 Mar 1879)
Mabel Niles (Born 18 Sep 1879)
Emma Niles (Born 26 Feb 1885)
Milo Niles (Born 31 Oct 1889)

Possible children of Stillman and Jane, also born in Juneau Co., are:

Blanche Niles (Born 9 Jul 1911)
Bernard Niles (Born 29 Aug 1913)

I would appreciate any information that sheds some light on specific information on Stillman or Jane, as well as the relationship of Blanche and Bernard.

Blanch Niles was Bernard Niles wife. They passed away in the mid 1980's. They had two sons, Jerry and Robert, the later was killed in Vietnam in 1969. Bernards father may have been. Milo may have been Bernards father according to a 1914 platt map from Lisbon township Wisc. which has M. Niles listed at Bernards farm. Jerry now owns it and resides in New Lisbon, WI.

Stillman died in Reedsburg, WI. Emma Niles was married to Archie Niles and had a daughter, Mary M. born 4/25/1908.

I am trying to find if Elmer J. Niles is part of this family. He was born in 12/25/1874.

I just recently came across an obituary for Jerry Niles, born March 15, 1826 in Dickinson, NY; died January 10, 1911 in Wonewoc, Juneau County, WI. The obit mentions his wife Mary Jane Beeman, four daughters, Laura, Emma, Evelyn, Cora, Ida May (married U.S. Matteson), Mary A. (married Mr. Dow). It also mentions a sister, Mr. F.N. Peck, and a brother, Harley Niles. It says Jerry Niles is buried in Pine Eden Cemetery, Wonewoc.

If you think this is part of your family, I would be glad to e-mail the obituary to you.

According to the 1880 census, Elmer was Stillman & Rachel Jane [Rose] Niles' son.

1880 Census, Fountain, Juneau Co., WI, E.D. #185, p. 369A-369B, Dwelling #108, Family #121, enumerated 18 Jun 1880:

On his WWI Draft Registration Card, Elmer's full name was given as Elmer Jason Niles and his birth date as 21 Dec 1874. Mabel Niles of Mauston, Juneau Co., WI, was listed as his nearest relative,

On the 1900 Census [New Lisbon City, Juneau Co., WI, E.D. #84, Sheet 3A], Jane reported she was the mother of 12 children with seven still living. In 1910 [Lisbon Town, Juneau Co., WI, E.D. #68, Sheet 8B], Rachel J. repeated the same count.

I have a newspaper clipping from the Baraboo Public Library dated June 24, 1874, which states:

"MARRIED - NILES-GROUT - In Baraboo, June 20th, 1874, by John Dean; Esq. Mr. STILLMAN NILES and Mrs. JANE GROUT, both of Delton."

Maybe Rose was her maiden name as she is listed as a MRS.???? The wedding date seems to match exactly with other internet postings for his wedding to Rachel Rose.
Needs more looking into.
