I am researching the John Jakob Appenzeller family of Red Wing, Goodhue County, MN. I do have the following information, John Jakob Appenzeller b 17 June 1836 Germany, died 15 August 1918 Red Wing MN md. Caroline Baringer b. 2 April 1842, Baden-Baden Germany d. 14 May 1915 Red Wing , MN. They had the following children: William, Caroline, Rose, Daniel John, Wilhelmina, Jacob, and Charles. What I am looking for is where they came into the USA and when. My greatgrandmother was their child, Rosa Appenzeller Berger Leibig Schubel. I know and have information that this family lived in Red Wing in the last 1800's and early 1900's. Any addtional information would be wonderful. I do have extensive info ie..newspaper clippings of their deaths. Thank you.

I am researching the John Jakob Appenzeller family, also. He married Caroline Beringer, dau of Carl and Christine (Blanachlier) Beringer. Their children: William Charles, Carolina, Jacob, Charles, Minnie, Rosie, Daniel John. I was married July 20, 1974 to Earl W. Appenzeller, son of James Alexander who was the son of William Charles. I would like as much information on this family as is possible. I have nothing on Jacob, Charles, Minnie, Rose, Carolina and Dainel John. I believe that Daniel removed to Milwaukee, WI at an early age and that he committed suicide there. I have a newspaper clipping about this, but not an obituary. The clipping says that he had a wife and children????? Earl and I divorced in 1987. We have a daughter Ann Marie, born Oct. 29, 1975. Please contact me at appie@mhtc.net Linda

Deanna,
You listed Torrey among your surnames. I am researching my father's family. My great-grandfather Roy Leslie Torrey was born in MN. His parents were Ervin Dewitte Torrey (born in Goodhue Co) and Katherine Schmitt (born in New Ulm, (brown Co). They had one other child, Ralph Renville Torrey. Have you come across any of those names.

Thanks,
Barbara

I do not recognize any of these names. My Torrey's were in Clinton Co. and Dubuque Co., Iowa. My Torrey married an Appenzeller who came from Red Wing, Goodhue Co., Minnesota.

I noticed the surname SEIZ in your posting. My grandmother was Bertha Seitz of Summit county, OH. Two of her brothers moved to Red Wing sometime in the 1880s. If you have information on the Seitz or Seiz family that emigrated from Wurtemburg to Canada then to Summit county, OH to Red Wing, I would like to correspond with you. I have info and some early pictures. Ed Ries
