I'm not sure where my father's family were from before Kentucky, but Richard Driskell and wife Mattie Baughman, who died young, married there and had 2 sons, Richard and James. Monroe Driskell was an uncle to the boys. Their grand-mother was Native American and lived 104 years. The boys moved to Ohio in the 1920's. The racial mixture was Caucasian, African, Chinese, and Native American. Family members can range anywhere from dark skin, hair, eyes to blond, blue, grey, or green eyes, and fair skin--or any combination of these.

My Grandfather - Patrick Joseph Driscoll was born in or neat Lexington, KY. He had several brothers and sisters (13). His father also had a large family. Great Grand Parents came from Cork. Some names are: James Patrick, Bernard, Ferdinand, Charles, Richard or Dick, Margaret, Alice.

My Grandfather married Anna Mae McCrstal, also from Lexington. Her sister - Caroline married a Purcell - owned Purcell's Department Store.

Do you know of any offspring who may have married Native Americans or African Americans in Kentucky ? Do you know of any Driskells or Driscolls who changed the spelling and were related by marriage to Baughmans, or Baughmans who were half Native American? Do you know of any around the Danville, KY area in the early 1900's? I have only a 1910 census record from Boyle County of James W. Driscoll, age 1yr., 10 months, grandson of Lizzie Baughman. I know his brother, Richard was probably being born at that time, but I have no record of that. Thank you for your response. Patti
