I too am a Crapse and looking for any info anyone wants to
share. My father is Thomas Crapse, My grandfather is Howell
David Crapse, His father was Mikel D. Crapse, Jr., his
father was M.D. Crapse, his father was Jesse Crapps. These
Crapse were from Scotia/Furman area of Hampton County, SC. This was also Prince Williams Parrish before Hampton
County. I was always told there were 2 brothers that came
over here to US and settled next to the Savannah River, which
is not far from Scotia. I was also told a lot of lCrapse migrated
across the River into Ga. Anybody with any Crapps/Crapse
info are welcome to e-mail me and I will share any info that
I have that might help you.

John James Crapse was my Great-Grandfather's, William Joseph, brother. He lived about 3 miles from what is now Estil, S. C. I have been searching from John J. for some time now. Do you know where he is buried? I would like to visit his grave.

The John Crapps you are talking about was his wife named Martha Herrington from GA. and his brother William was his
wife's first name Isabelle? and was their father Jesse W. Crapse and mother Cynthia Varnadore. Please reply, and
I'll see if I have any info you need.

Hi, Carrol - so good to see your message here although it's been 4 years! :) Perhaps you're still surfing these boards. I hope so.

I had only gotten back to Mikel D. Crapse's (Jr.) father being Mikel D. Crapse, Sr. I'm excited to see that you have one generation further back than I do. How did you come by finding out that Mikel D. Crapse, Sr.'s father was Jesse? I'd love to exchange any info we can.

All I have on Mikel D. Crapse Sr. is this:

b. Oct 1831 in Hampton County, SC
m. Catherine J. Horton who was b. c1832 in Hampton Co., SC
Her parents were Moses Horton and Jane C. nee-?

And the only son I have listed for Mikel Sr. and Catherine is Mikel Jr.

That's as far as I've gotten back. Could we talk more?

As for documentation I have, I have M. D. Crapse (Jr)'s:

-obituary from Sept. 1936
-death certificate
-wife's death certificate (Ella Rebecca Chassereau) from Feb. 1923

I always love more documentation, especially obituaries.

M. D. Crapse, Jr. is my husband's great-grandfather. He is descended through M. D. Crapse Jr.'s daughter Mary Ella Crapse-Gordon.

I'd love to hear from ANYONE with further information regarding M. D. Crapse Sr.'s parentage and more dates.

Thank you!

M. D. Crapse Sr.'s father was the son of Jesse W. Crapps and Cynthia Varnadore. Jesse W. Crapps was the son of Nathaniel Crapps. I have information on Jesse W. Crapps but nothing on Nathaniel Crapps. I will share if it will help you.

I have been quite sick the past couple of years and I've slowed down a lot, so I want to try and pick up on some of my genealogy where i left off.

The two Crapps men you are talking about are Henry and John Crapps. I have read a little about them. Henry became a Methodist minister and John joined forces with George Washington during the Revolutionary War. John built firearms for General Washington.
