Looking for a connection to the following.
Agnes RADFORD born abt. 1812 Devon England, her sister Elizabert RADFORD born abt. 1821 Devon Eng. There may be a brother Thomas not sure of the date of birth. Also the mother or an aunt called katherine born abt. 1801.
All arrived in New Zealand on board the Blenhiem from Plymouth to New Plymouth NZ 1842.
Agnes married a James DUST, he was a soldier in the Duke of Cornwalls Light Inf.
There is no records of an Elizabeth RADFORD arriving in NZ a family bible is the only evidence that Elizabeth arrived with her sister Agnes DUST.
The only Elizabeth on board the ship that fits is an Elizabeth PAIN/PAYNE. There are no marriages in Devon for an Elizabeth RADFORD to a PAIN/PAYNE.
Elizabeth has been a mystery for twenty years all NZ records of her give very little information. She is Elizabeth RADFORD on everything in NZ the ships records is the only record that names her as Elizabeth PAIN/PAYNE. Even the ships surgeon names her as Elizabeth PAIN.
Hope to solve this mystery, if any one can help.
Kind regards
Sue Greene.

Hi, I'm replying to the above post 14 years later so am not sure whether you will see this, plus it's highly likely you have already solved the mystery regarding Elizabeth Radford. However, if not, I'd like to mention that an Elizabeth Radford married my 4 x great uncle William Pote on 1 July 1846 in New Plymouth. They went on to have 8 children. When William Pote died in 1867, Elizabeth married again, to an Edmund Dover about 1868. A son was born to this union but I'm not sure whether they had any more children. Elizabeth died in Nelson in 1898. From information I've found, Elizabeth came to NZ in 1842 on board the Bleheim and as you've mentioned, the only Elizabeth that fits, is an Elizabeth Payne. She was apparently married before she married William Pote but I have no information regarding her first marriage. Hopefully, this may help you. Kind regards, Lynette
