Both came through Ellis Island.

My wife is related through their son John Dam born in Iowa.

Merry Christmas! I'm sorry but I just noticed you posting. We must be related too! My father is their son Nick Dam born 2/18/13. John Dam is my uncle. My father added Vander to his name in 1944ish in @ Fort Sam Houston TX. John Dam passed away when I was in elementary school 1966(?)
