Looking for ancestors of my grandmother. She was born on April 13, 1905 in Augusta, Maine. The daughter of Thomas & Mertie (Green) Hawes. The 1910 census lists her as being 5 years old living in a children's home in Augusta Maine. She was adopted by Oscar and Susie (Dunn) Hubbard on July 18, 1911. The Hubbard's were from Howland, Maine. Helen's obituary dated November 16, 1989 lists siblings as: Hattie Hawes, Augusta, Maine; Ernest Hawes, Portland, Maine; and Clarence Hawes, South Carolina. Would like to find the ancestry of the Hawe's family and information on Helen's siblings. Would also like to find family information on her daughter Helen (Spinney) Sudborough.
Thank you.

On the adoption papers her father signed his name as Henry Hawes. We think his name was Thomas Henry Hawes and possibly went by the name of Henry as her death record lists her father's name as Thomas H. Hawes

I'm no longer a member of ancestry. However, Thomas "T. Henry" Henry Hawes was my great, great grandfather and Hattie was my great grandmother. If you are still around, I would love to help you to learn more about your relatives.
