J. S. McKendrick died at St. Joseph's Hospital in Lexington, Ky., Tuesday night after a protraced illness. The body was taken to the home of his daughter, Mrs. F. F. Waller at 356 Madison Place. He was born in Franklin County, June 13, 1833, and in 1880 came to Lexington and engaged in the lumber business, being associated with F. F. Waller, the firm name being McKendrick and Waller, with office on Main Street, where now stands the Phoenix National Bank. He was in business about a year when his health failed and he then retired from business and moved to Shelbyville, Ky., where he had since made his home.

I realize the original message here was posted many years ago, but just in case you're still out there, I'm looking for the McKendrick family in Kentucky too. I have a hunch that my 4x Great Grandfather, William McKendrick, was related to this JS McKendrick mentioned in this obituary, as William lived in Franklin County, KY as well (around 1820). JS was probably a nephew of William's. Either way, would love to know if you have anymore info on JS-- especially names of his parents and where they were from. I think I can link William to them.
