My group is trying to find the father of George Hook. All we know is that George married Rebecca and had 4 children. He was from Tenn. but we know he had a connection to Virginia or Ireland. What can you tell me about George Scott Hook. Our George had a son named Alfred that moved from Blount County Tenn. to Missouri. Thanks for your help. Please reply.

Just stumbled across your message from September, 1999 and recognized some of the names you have listed.

My third great-grandfather was Elisha Hook, son of George F. and Mary Ann Hooke (I did not have her maiden name. Thanks!) Elisha left Virginia and settled in Iowa before it was a state. OUR family folklore suggests Elisha left Virginia penniless and somewhat disgraced as the result of paying a bad debt of a friend or relative. The fact that he is not referenced in several Hooke Family accounts makes me question what really happened.

I received an enormous amount of information on this line from my grandfather, whose mother was a Hook. I have not yet entered the information in my family files.

You seem to have a tremendous amount of information. I doubt that I have anything in addition to what you have, but will do some checking and let you know, if you are interested.

It has been a couple of years since I have researched this line. I recall encountering information regarding the Hooke Family owning slaves. I guess I went into "shock" and lost my enthusiasm for this particular line.

My email address is Please send me an email and maybe we can compare notes. I don't have anything on your Elisha Hook except references that he went west to Iowa. His brother, Elijah, is my 3rd great grandfather and he came to Ky.
When it comes to George Mary Ann's line, I've almost felt like we were all nonexistant! Everyone I've come across is related to George's brother, William! This has really made me wonder. It seems like George's family just scattered all over and it's like they all lost contact with each other. My notes aren't organized too good, and they're not on the computer, but I'll share anything I have.
Do you know anything about Robert Jean Hooke? Like parents, siblings, etc?????
Email me and we'll see what we can come up with! Ramona
