My g-g-grandfather was a man named Cornelius
Groesbeck. He died in Jo Daviess Co., Illinois
in 1846. Jo Daviess Co. is the very northwest
corner of Illinois - just across the river from
Dubuque. Cornelius had a son James Groesbeck.
I know that James was still alive in 1893 when
his mother Elizabeth Denure Groesbeck died.

If there is a 'fit' here I'd be happy to share
details (

Hi Kip,

As a by-blow, I have been in touch with a person by the name of David Van Fleet who is also researching Cornelius Groesbeck. He has also found them living in JoDavies Co., IL. Apparently Cornelius and Elizabeth are his ggg? grandparents or something. I found him searching for the surname of Denure, I am also searching for Denures, possibly Elizabeth's sister. Her name was Jemima Denure Allen, born 1801. Elizabeth was born in 1808. There may also be brothers or nephews, I'm not sure which, John and Helam. All hailed from Montgomery county, New York. Have you ever heard of Jemima? And who were Elizabeth's parents? David's e-mail address is Hope that you two connect.

I apologize for being so tardy in responding to your post.
I am in touch with David Van Fleet. He is a descendant of
Wm. D. Groesbeck, Cornelius and Elizabeth's eldest child.
I am a descendant of Mary Ann Groesbeck, William's sister.

I'd be happy to share details if it would help. BTW, two
Denure sons served in the 92nd Illinois volunteer infantry
during the civil war.

Best regards
