In 1852 Cork underwent the Griffith Valuation now used as a census substitute.

Kilworth a Parish, a village and a townland in the Poor Law Union of Fermoy (within 12 mi)it is on the road between
Fermoy (2 mi)and Mitchelstown. There is a facebook page for Kilworth.

At that time 112 Young's lived in Cork, 8 in the Parish of Kilworth of these, 6 in the Townland of Kilworth as well
with various landlords. There are only two names for these 8 properties. William and John.

There are over 492 properties tenanted by the surname Ryan. The names are Michael, Pat, Margaret, John, William, Thomas and David.

There is a Thomas Ryan of Fermoy listed in the commercial
directories for Cork, 1824 & 1846 which can be seen
on later ones I need to be at home
to view. for the above names with property descriptions, landlord and neighbours.

eg: Thomas Ryan, Parish of Kilworth, Townland Kilworth
Poor Law Union Fermoy, landlord John Young

#96 Main Street, house, outbuilding and garden 0.1.15

William Young, same as above, landlord Earl of Mountcashel

#91 house, outbuilding and garden 0 acres 1 rood,24 perches

Cork baptism and marriage records can be found in two places. and the North East on from The Parish of Kilworth has records from 1829 to 1919.

The current on line telephone book for Cork has over 400 Ryan's listed and 52 Young's. There is a Pierce Young in Kilworth, also a Stephen Young. It would be worth a couple of stamps and a letter while you wait for contact.

The only Ryan in business in Kilworth was a James W. Ryan - a poulterer. He isn't listed in the telephone book but
found by searching for Kilworth-Cork. from 1864+ for bmd's.The children's baptisms would be parish records. I would think the latest about 1864. Marriages from 1865-1880?

Jeremiah Ryan/SKA David Ryan in 1873 in prison (born about 1852) incident Charles Fort Kinsale, born Peacock Lane, Cork. No reason given. David Ryan, prison record 1894 in Limerick, born Fermoy 1849 age 45. No charge given.

if David born around 1877 there are two more prison records
for David Ryan one for drunk & disorderly and 1 for assault but this/these fellows born 1877. 1901/1911 Census:

possibilities: Ignatius Ryan 48 Farmer (Fermoy)
Mary Clancy 53, visitor William Ryan 58, married,a dobber(?)

I am working on a tree for someone who i think ended up at Kilworth (Monadrishane) on the 1851 census and his name was Jeremiah Ryan a labourer. I know a little about him but do not know whether he was related to the other "Ryans" at Kilworth or not.
Would definitely like to compare notes on the families.
