As peggy mentioned earlier that this couple married in 1914.I cannot trace any children in the uk,but Francis Goldworth Lowick, died in Jerusalem in 1935 and left a will.

Perhaps some kind person on this website may be able to look it up for you. Also cannot trace if Agnes remarried or died in Jerusalem.

Kind regards John

Some more information that may help

I don't think she remarried as there is a grave at St Peters Church Cemetery Westleton Suffolk for Agnes Norah Anstruthers Lowick, with the dates 1888 to 1975. Details can be found at

Francis and Agnes had 2 daughters Eileen H b1916 and Katharine N b1918 both in Alexandria.

Eileen married Robert William Hamilton in Jerusalem in 1935, Katharine married Antony T Irvine in 1940 in Jerusalem. Antony Irvine was a Sqd Ldr in the RAF and died over Greece in 1941 their son James was born in 1941.

Classification: Will

Francis Goldsworth Lowick left a Will. He died in Jerusalem, but there must have been assets in England, because Letters of Administration (with the Will) were granted out of Bristol Probate Registry as follows:-

England & Wales, National Probate Calendar (Index of Wills and Administrations), 1858-1966
Wills & Probate

Name: Francis Goldworth Lowick
Death: 8 Feb 1935 - Palestine
Other: 3 May 1935 - Bristol (Issued out of Bristol Probate Registry)

LOWICK Francis Goldsworth of Barclays Bank (Dominion Colonial and Overseas) King William Street, London and of Upper Bakaa, Jerusalem, Palestine, died 8th February 1935 at Upper Bakaa, Jerusalem Administration (with the Will) (limited) Bristol 3rd May to Walter Morris Lowick Chartered Accountant Attorney of Agnes Norah Anstruther Lowick Widow. Effects £3433.16. 6d.

This means that you could apply for a copy of this Will by writing to the Probate Registry

London Probate Department, Principal Registry of the Family Division, First Avenue House, 7th Floor, 42-49 High Holborn, Holborn. London WC1V 6NP. Tel: 020 7947 6939

General London Probate Registry Enquiries 020 7947 6939.

You would need to tell them when Probate was granted, (ie 3rd May 1935 out of Bristol, and give the full name of the deceased. It will cost about £10 to get a copy of both the Letters of Administration and a copy of the Will) Although this was Letters of Administration, there was a Will, probably because the named Executor, did not prove the Will, but there could be other reasons.
