I see it has been over ten years since your original post. I have Jacklins in my data base including Andrew's parents Robinson Jacklin and Christian Mathewson. I have not been able to confirm the identity of Robinson or Robertson Jacklin's parents but they may be Francis Jacklin and Elizabeth of Lincolnshire in England. There was a Robert Jacklin born to the family in 1806 which makes him older by 12 years than the Robinson who emigrated to Canada. Robinson is the middle name of one of Robinson's siblings Jane. Perhaps Robinson was the mother's maiden name. So no confirmation just conjecture.

Doesn't say he a widower but that doesn't mean he wasn't. Census are notorious for wrong information.

Gechlin [there has been a correction on the name to Jacklin]
Robinson, shoemaker, b England, 42, widow
Ann, 19
Francis, 15
William, 10
Joseph, 8
Children all born Upper Canada.

I cannot find them on 1851 census.

I don't know where you live but as they are an 'old' family perhaps there is something in the Parry Sound Library about Robinson.

Hi Parry Sound,
Thanks to you giving your Aunt Jennie's last name, I found a lot of information on her line. Jennie was Sarah Jane Huffman and was listed as either Jennie or Sarah Jane when the children's births were registered. On I tried to find Jennie's marriage to Charles Jacklin did not but someone had submitted a tree with her parents' names. I found her family on the 1881 and 1901 censuses. In 1881 Jennie listed as Jane was the youngest child, in 1901 she was the oldest at home. She was one of 13 children!
I have not been able to run Robinson Jacklin any further than his parents Francis and Elizabeth so far but more is being uploaded to family all the time so I will try again. My personal e-address is

Edith Victoria Jacklin was my materna grandmother. You will be interested in knowing that her middle name was actually Valerie and not Victoria.
