Surnames: BIANCHETTA, FRANCESCHINO, ZANDIGIACOMO, VECELLIO
Happened to come across the Vercellino message board and thought that I would mention that I have a number of Vercellino names from my research in Salassa, a small commune near Cuorgnè. My research dates back to 1823 and the Vercellino name is present throughout. A substaintial number of them married into the Biarchetta family.

I am looking for Effizio (Efizso) Vercellino who came from that area. His mother's name was Magdalene Vercellino. He came to the US from the Port of Havre in 1906. Married Desolina Ronchetto and had 2 children in Trinadad and Durango Colorada. Any information would be GREATLY appreciated.

Hi:
I checked through my various trees and could not come up with a Magdalena Vercellino. My first question would be, do you know the name of Effizio's father? Do you have the name of a town? Effizio is not a common name in Salassa. I notice that his surname is the same as his mother's. Was she married when she had him or were his parents related and bore the same surname. Do you have Effizio's naturalization papers. Those may give you further information as to his hometown. That's how I discovered where my grandfather was born. Do you have his death certificate? That will sometimes give the parents names. Usually on the immigration documents they give the name of the nearest relative in Italy. No luck there? Then you could go on the familysearch.org site and look through the towns listed under church records for Italy. They're quite substantial. I wish I could be of more help to you but you really need the name of the town where he was born. Good luck on your research.

Hi:
I went to the familysearch site and could not find salto canavesse. I believe that is the correct name of the town. I then went on line, typed in salto canavesse and found the following:

The village of Salto Canavese belongs to the municipality of Cuorgnè, in the province of Torino, region Piemonte. The village must be so small it was not listed separately under those towns actually filmed by the Mormons. This is their toll free number. 1-866-406-1830 Ask specifically it this town was filmed. If so you can then find a family search center nearby where they will help you order whatever microfilm you need.

Naturalization papers: You need a date or a time period. What was filled out on his 1910 census. Their is usually a question covering this on the form. If he lived in Colorado the entire time until his death I would call the state to see if they have copies of naturalization records and if not, where would you find this information. You could also call Sopris, CO and speak to someone in vital records if you don't have a copy of his death certificate. They usually fill in the undertaker and burial place as part of the information.

I hope some of this is helpful.

Adrienne
