I don't know if this is a link but my family are from the Popps line in Ogdensburg, N.Y. I noticed there is a marriage to a Popps in your family. If interested contact me.

My uncle Robert Schwartfigure was married to Rita Popps in Ogdensburg. He died suddenly in 1971, she just died in January last year. I do have a picture of Robert but not Rita or their son who sadly also died young like his father. Are they in your line? I believe Rita was born in Carleton but I have to check my database tonight.

My ancestors were Schwartzfager. Yours are Schwartfigure. Bothe names have unusual spelling. Mine got shortened to Swartzfager and Swartz over time. My line came from Hannover, Stadt Hannover, Niedersachsen, Germany before 1850. The census takers chewed up names. I thought the 2 names sounded alike. Never know.
Another strange coincedence: My husband's Raymo family lived in St. Lawrence County for many generations and came from Canada. Just interested and thinking it is a small world.

I am trying to find relations to a Lewis (Louis) Schwartzfinger (Schwartzfager perhaps) born around 1874 in Ogdenburg St. Lawrence New york. He married my great grandmother Mary Nettie Kyer (Richtello) (Joslin) and had 3 daughters-Mildred, Nellie and Reta. He was inprisoned in Canton in 1916. A distant cousin David Rice just sent me a copy of a newspaper article dated may 4, 1922 that lists nearly all of the people you just referenced. So IF that Louis S WAS my great grandfather, then we are related. I will do some digging. The paper lists lim as Louis Schwartsfigure LaFlair.
