Good evening Linda,

I'm sorry, for my english but I hope that you will understand what I'm writting you...So... As you can see my family name is "Preli" I was born in France, but my grandfather was from Italy (Gambaro). I have to ask to my father because I'm not sure but I think that the name of his grandfather was "Francesco" (not Francisco...) and was married to a "Draghi" Ladie...
In fact all people with Preli as family name are from this area in Italy where there is a little village at name "Prelo", just near Gambaro.
I don't if there is a relation between yr research and my story, but I will try to give you more informations if you wish.
Again sorry for my english.
Kind regards/Lydia

Can't help but reply to you. I have been to Gambaro, Italy, nice little town, and I knew some Preli family in GLastonbury, CT. My father had an aunt Maddalena, that I was named after. My mother was Elvira Ferrari, daughter of Antonio and Maria Quagliaroli Ferrari, from WAllingford, CT, but born in Val Nure, Italy (Pertuso and Selva, Ferriere di Piacenza)
my father's family is Paretti, from Selva di Ferriere, Piacenza Italy, his parents came to NYC about 1890.
Don't know if we are related, or this is same Preli family.

Surnames: Maloberti, Barbieri
If I may add a little information. I am looking for the Maloberti from the same area you mention. I suggest you go to the Familysearch.org web side and click on the library catalogue. Go toe place and enter Ferriere. Ferriere recorded all of the birth, deaths, marriage for the villages you mention and then some. Oh on Rootsweb look for Maria Magdalena Maloberti married [abt 1705] to a Pietro Barbieri in the Pradello, Bettola area. I have the church records from Pradello. I suspect she was born about 1685 from the Ferriere area because this surname is not know in the Bettola district. I contracted a researcher in Italy. Feel free to contact me any time. Anybody have church record of this area?

My grandmother is Maria Maloberti , marr. to Olindo Preli, they are from Gambaro. I have her father's and mother's birth. cert. but have to check my records to see how far back I go on her side. I've check some of the Mormon films that go back to the 1600s but they're pretty bad. They shut down the Family research center here in Naples, FL so I don't know if I can get them again. I'll see how far back I go on the Maloberti's and let you know. During some time periods Ferriere was not the county seat and you have to look elsewhere. Sometimes it was the dukedom of Parma, etc. Will get back to you. John Preli

It was Ducati di Parma until 1870 then it became the Prvn. of Piacenza. I work with Bettola, Coli, Farini d'olmo and a few others. I am in SA. TX. and the FHC here is open about 25 hours a week so it gives me plenty of time to look at film. Just though you might of contracted somebody to look at the church records. I did and it was worth it. Let me know if I can help. I ordered the film for Ferriere on deaths 1806 until ?

Sorry to take so long to get back to you. My grandmother is Maria Anna Maloberti m. to Olindo Preli. She's from Edifize just down the road from Gambaro. Her father was Giuseppe Maloberti m. to Rosa Valla in 1875 and he was 22yrs. old. His father was also Giuseppe and m. Maria Preli. That's as far back as I go on that side of the family. My grandmother had a sister,Clementina, who marr. Valentino Barbieri and they settled in PA. My mother is a Barbieri, her father was Cesare, his father was Valentino, not the one in PA, & his father was Nazzaro or Lazzaro, born in Cerreto but moved to Gambaro. I believe his father was Antonio. Nazzaro died in 1915 at 100 yrs. Are any of your relatives from PA ?
