I'm interested in exchanging McColgan genealogy information with others who might be related. I have traced my roots back to the Isle of Doagh on the Innishowen Penninsula in the north eastern part of County Donegal Ireland. Have word of mouth information leading me back to Dennis McColgan (b: abt 1800) and John McColgan (b: abt 1831). My grandfather was William McColgan (b: abt 1873) who emmigrated from Ireland to Boston (Jamaica Plain). Please contact me at Thanks!

I think I am replying to Mark McColgan, who requested information about other McColgan relatives? Just recently got interested in this. McColgan was my maternal grandmother's maiden name. My maternal great-grandfather was John Wesley McColgan of Dexter, Missouri. He had four daughters but no sons, so the name stopped there. He was quite a character as were all four of his daughters. They were a prominent farming family in a little town in Southeast Missouri. I know that my great-aunt Reba McColgan (never married) did some family research some time back. I'm not sure who in the family ended up with it. She was a member of DAR.

I have just started searching for info on my great grandparents, William and Rosetta McColgan from Ballymoney, Ireland, who emigrated to the United Stated in 1882. I would appreciate any help you could give me.

Thank you.
