I am looking for information about the Masanz family in Wisconsin from the Wausau/Halder area
I may be able to help - my g-g-grandmother was Anna Masanz (8 Sept. 1855-4-June 1920). E-mail for more info!
I just saw your entry. MY g-g-grandmother was the same Anna Masanz (Kurtzweil).
She is my g-g-grandmother as well - Her son Joseph is my g-grandfather and his son Elroy is my grandfather.
I see that you have been talking about Anna Masanz-Kurtzweil. My Great-Great Grandfather is John Neptune Masanz Jr., Anna's Brother. I was lucky enough to spend two days this summer spending time at St. Patrick's Church in Halder, the Marathon County Courthouse and visiting with my great aunt (she has a vivid memory and boxes of family photos.) I would love to hear from anyone who would like to swap info. I have a lot more to share than when I first wrote the "Masanz of Wisconsin" request.
hope to speak with you soon.
I think we've corresponded before. I share you fondness for spending time in Halder. Both of my parents have family from the area.
Who is the great aunt you refer to and would you be able to e-mail any photos? We've had some success scanning in old photos and reproducing them on our printer.
I think I remember meeting your grandfather. He came to my grandmother's house in Edgar after a funeral, but I don't remember whose. It is a shame that my mom died 2 years ago. She was about the same age as your great aunts Del and Pearl and May. I think she may have babysat for your great aunt Kitty. She had a lot of stories. We met Kitty and Del and James at some of the earlier Kurtzweil reunions. My mom was Rose Kurtzweil and her dad was Frank Kurtzweil who was married to Mary Lindenmeyer, Rose's grandmother was Anna Masanz Kurtzweil. I think you and I are one generation different. I am sure that all the geneology information that I have, you already have. My info is just from other peoples sources.
I have not been back to Edgar/Halder since my mom died, I don't think I am up for that yet. If you think I have any information that could help you, let me know!
One meeting with my grandfather, Elroy Kurtzweil, will stick in your memory. He had a lot of stories as well, though I think most were altered to make him look a little better.
If it's not too much trouble, I'd like to double check some info with you - I had your grandmother's maiden name as Linzmeier, so my stuff is obviously not perfect. In fact, I don't even have birth-death dates of all of the children of Frank J and Anna (Masanz) Kurtzweil.
If you get a chance, pleae verify (or correct) following info on children:
Mary, b. 31 Dec. 1873, d. 19 June 1957, m. Jacob Reichel (no date) and James Schara (no date)

I guess I would be interested in knowing if this agrees with what you know and if there are any blanks you can fill in. If you ever run across any information on the "Frolic Garden", an amusement park that Frank Kurtzweil built in the 1920's outside of Edgar, that would be interesting.
I posted everything I had on the children of Frank J. and Anna (Masanz) Kurtzweil.
I have never heard of Frolic Garden and would be interested in hearing more. I'm assuming the Frank Kurtzweil you're referring to is your grandfather. Please tell me about it.
