I have been searching for a missing side of my family, namely my Grandfathers brothers family who were born in N.Y. and moved ??????The spelling of the surname is unusual and dates back into the 1600's in Germany. We have been trying to locate which city in Germany without too much luck. Any info you can provide if you think there is a connection in these families would be appreciated.. RLS

Rich, you noted that the 'h' was dropped in your spelling. I am also researching Stuhmer family background (in touch with RLS) and found a family in Germany that dropped the 'h' every other generation.
